Senior Associate – Environmental

Role Overview

Senior Associate – Environmental at Aldar Properties. The role supports the implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of Aldar's Environmental Management System across all construction and development projects in the UAE.

Role Purpose

To support the implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of Aldar's Environmental Management System (EMS) across all construction and development projects, ensuring compliance with UAE environmental legislation, Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) requirements, Estidama, and ISO 14001 standards while promoting environmental best practices and sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Management System Implementation

• Implement and maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS), including environmental policies, procedures, objectives, and targets.
• Ensure Estidama requirements are aligned and integrated with the EMS.

Compliance & Regulatory

• Ensure compliance with UAE environmental laws, EAD requirements, Estidama, and ISO 14001 standards across projects.
• Coordinate and follow up on obtaining environmental permits and NOCs from project initiation through handover.
• Liaise with authorities, including Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD), on environmental compliance matters.
• Ensure environmental monitoring (air, water, terrestrial), SDS compliance, and chemical content limits are in line with UAE legislation.

Monitoring & Auditing

• Monitor PMCs, consultants, and contractors for compliance with EIAs, CEMPs, environmental permits, policies, and targets.
• Conduct regular site inspections and internal/external environmental audits, including second-party audits.
• Participate in contractor and service provider prequalification and provide technical environmental advice.

Operational Initiatives

• Coordinate pollution control, waste management, recycling, emergency response, conservation, and renewable energy initiatives.
• Enhance environmental awareness and culture through initiatives, campaigns, and alerts.
• Contribute to environmental CSR initiatives where applicable.

Reporting & Documentation

• Collect environmental data and prepare monthly environmental performance reports and dashboards.
• Maintain environmental records and documentation on the Aldar QHSE platform.
• Support environmental investigations and report incidents or non-compliances as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Environmental Diploma (preferred).
• ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification.
• Minimum 5+ years' experience in Environmental Engineering.
• Experience with large developers, construction firms, PMCs, consultants, contractors, or government entities.
• UAE / GCC experience preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of UAE and GCC environmental regulations.
• Contractor environmental assessment and compliance monitoring.
• Audit, inspection, and reporting expertise.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication skills in English and Arabic.
