Role Purpose

To lead and manage comprehensive architectural design delivery across diverse asset types, from concept through detailed design and construction phases, while maintaining compliance with standards, championing design excellence and safety in design principles, and providing strategic guidance to multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Scope & Schedule Management

• Manage scope and schedule, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
• Prepare and track relevant Capex documentation.

Design Standards & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with project requirements and design standards.
• Ensure design and asset brief compliance, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor technical compliance throughout design and construction phases.
• Provide strategic guidance on technical design standards and philosophy.

Design Delivery & Production

• Deliver architecture mandate as part of the senior management team, including stakeholder engagement.
• Manage the design process creatively, emphasizing aesthetic excellence.
• Deliver architectural designs for diverse typologies: residential, mixed-use, commercial, public, healthcare, educational, civic, cultural, etc.
• Prepare, develop, and edit drawings and presentations effectively.
• Supervise production from visualization through pre-concept, concept, developed, and detailed design stages.
• Draft comprehensive architectural documentation from concept through detailed design.
• Develop and review architectural asset briefs, manuals, and standard design documents.
• Oversee preparation of materials schedules, sample boards, FF&E schedules, sourcing, and mock-ups.
• Solve design issues creatively while adhering to budget and design approach.

Design Reviews & Governance

• Lead qualitative architectural design reviews, offering analysis, comments, and recommendations to executive management.
• Conduct design reviews and recommend solutions aligned with business goals and global standards.

Integration & Collaboration

• Support integration of design packages across disciplines.
• Collaborate with design group, delivery team, and project team on design delivery from concept to completion.
• Communicate and coordinate with consultants, contractors, and NEOM departments.
• Build consensus among team members to ensure the best contributions.

Safety & Sustainability

• Champion safety in design principles and implementation.

Team Leadership & Oversight

• Oversee and manage architects, designers, managers, and professionals within the department.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering complex, high-profile projects.

Qualifications & Experience

• 13+ years of architectural design and management experience post-undergraduate.
• B.Arch or B.Sc. in Architecture from a recognized university.
• Postgraduate degree in Architecture or Urban Design.
• International accreditations (RIBA, AIA, or equivalent).
• Proven expertise in managing international design consultants across sectors and typologies.
• Experience in residential, commercial, public, healthcare, and educational designs.
• Demonstrated success in large, complex programs with a focus on quality and innovation.
• Construction experience is preferred.
• Sustainability certifications (LEED, PQP, or equivalent) are highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent conceptual and aesthetic design skills.
• Expertise in architectural and urban design to create holistic built environments.
• Understanding of financial and commercial project management.
• Comprehensive knowledge of risk management, scope definition, and scope interfaces.
• Full knowledge of international standards, policies, codes, and procedures.
• Familiarity with statutory authorities requirements and sustainable design principles.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite.
• Grasshopper and V-Ray skills are a plus.
• Fluent in English with strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and large-scale projects.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and budgets.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a flexible, collaborative attitude.
