Role Overview
Section Head – Mechanical at ACWA Power, based in Rabigh, Saudi Arabia. The role is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, plant overhauls, and outage maintenance work related to mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
Role Purpose
The Section Head – Mechanical plans, supervises, and executes preventive and corrective maintenance activities for plant mechanical equipment, leading troubleshooting efforts and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Maintenance Execution
- Plan and supervise preventive, corrective, shutdown, and overhaul maintenance activities for plant mechanical equipment
- Apply mechanical maintenance techniques and principles to maintain assigned equipment and systems
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, repair, lubrication, and cleaning activities for mechanical, hydraulic, and associated systems
- Execute and monitor work orders through CMMS (SAP) and coordinate with maintenance engineers regarding technical matters and job completion
Procurement & Resource Management
- Prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and consumables while ensuring availability of strategic spares within budget requirements
- Ensure effective utilization of manpower, materials, and maintenance resources
Troubleshooting & Technical Support
- Lead troubleshooting activities and support the maintenance team in resolving mechanical and operational issues
Compliance & Safety Management
- Ensure implementation and compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS), HSE policies, and legal requirements
- Monitor hazards, environmental aspects, incidents, near misses, and emergency situations within assigned areas
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor IMS objectives, targets, and performance, and report findings to management
- Conduct root cause analysis for non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions
Team Development
- Identify competency gaps within the team and provide training, coaching, and performance evaluations
General
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum 10 years of relevant maintenance experience in industrial or power plant environments
- Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance, plant shutdowns, and outage management
- Strong experience using SAP/CMMS systems
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety, and Environmental Management Systems
- Risk assessment and incident investigation skills
- Root cause analysis and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements
- Strong communication skills in English
- Computer literacy including MS Office and SAP
- Ability to work effectively in demanding plant environments
