Role Overview

Secondary Arabic & Islamic Teacher at International Schools Partnership. The role is based at an International Schools Partnership school location.

Role Purpose

Plan and deliver high-quality Arabic and Islamic instruction that achieves clear progression of learning, challenges pupils, builds on prior attainment, and ensures pupils acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate to the subject.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning Design

• Set tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest
• Set clear targets, building on prior progress and attainment
• Identify SEN and EAL pupils
• Provide clear structures for lessons, maintaining pace, motivation and challenge
• Use a variety of teaching methods to match approach to content, structure information and present information effectively
• Select appropriate learning resources and develop study skills through library, ICT and other sources
• Use effective questioning, listen carefully to pupils, give attention to errors and misconceptions
• Ensure pupils acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate to the subject taught

Assessment & Progress

• Make effective use of assessment and ensure coverage of program of study
• Maintain high standards of work and homework
• Track records of students through data managing skills
• Mark, display and present children's work to a high standard in the classroom and throughout the school, changed regularly

Classroom Management & Support

• Ensure effective and efficient deployment of classroom support
• Encourage pupils to think and talk about their learning, develop self-control and independence, concentrate and persevere, and listen attentively
• Consistently and diligently apply and uphold the rules of the school to maintain discipline, dress code and ensure the happiness, safety and well-being of all pupils and community

Subject & School Leadership

• Develop, implement and monitor subject policy and assist in the production of such documentation when required
• Support the School Improvement Plan in relation to the curriculum and the continuing improvement of student achievement

Professional Conduct & Safeguarding

• Maintain, with the rest of the staff, high standards of conduct both in and out of the classroom, acting in a way that is honest, justifiable and in the best interests of pupils
• Maintain smart and professional standards of appearance with particular attention to and awareness of cultural sensitivities
• Uphold safeguarding and welfare of children

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor degree in Education
• PG Diploma or QTS
• 2 years' school experience
• Fluency in English and Arabic (mandatory)

• Excellent communication skills and command of the English language in spoken and written form

• Ability to deal effectively with students and teachers
