Role Purpose

To maintain laboratory facilities, prepare equipment and materials for science lessons, manage stock control, and support the Science Department in delivering high-quality science education within a high-achieving school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

• Maintain, prepare, and clean laboratory equipment
• Prepare laboratory solutions
• Prepare and provide equipment for lessons

Stock & Materials Management

• Organize and maintain efficient storage systems for equipment and materials
• Undertake stock control including preparing lists of replacements as required
• Assist with completing and collating the annual order for the Science Department

Administrative Support

• Assist with Reprographic work as required
• Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be determined by the Head of Science or Senior Science Technician

School-Wide Compliance & Engagement

• Assist school in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and contribute to the achievement of relevant targets as set out in the school's improvement plan and self-evaluation form
• Comply with regulations pertaining to health and safety at work legislation and adhere to school policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulations
• Comply with the school's Performance Management Policy ensuring challenging annual targets are set and fulfil the role of performance management reviewer if directed to do so by the Principal
• Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding and health and safety together with all training deemed appropriate for the purpose of school improvement or performance management
• Comply with the school's staff dress code at all times including the wearing of photo ID and lanyard
• Comply with the school's computer Acceptable Use Policy at all times
• Attend all staff briefings
• Sign out and sign in at relevant school reception if off site at any point during the normal working day

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree
• An "A" Level in Science (advantageous)
• Experience in similar role
• Experience with working in an educational setup

• Excellent literacy and communication skills (both written and spoken) with capacity to communicate effectively with Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Department, students and parents
• Enthusiastic and solution-focused approach to work
• Flexible approach to work and willingness to take initiative
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a high-achieving organisation
• Appreciation of the importance of high standards
