Role Purpose

To maintain, prepare, and organize laboratory facilities and equipment in support of high-quality science teaching. To enable teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning experiences that spark curiosity and support students' academic, social, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

• Maintain, prepare, and clean laboratory equipment.
• Prepare and provide equipment for lessons.
• Prepare laboratory solutions.
• Organize and maintain efficient storage systems for equipment and materials.

Stock Management

• Conduct stock control including preparing lists of replacements as required.
• Assist with completing and collating the annual order for the Science Department.

Administrative Support

• Assist with reprographic work as required.
• Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be determined by the Head of Science or Senior Science Technician.

School-Wide Compliance and Contribution

• Assist the school in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions and contribute to achievement of relevant targets as set out in the school's improvement plan and self-evaluation form.
• Comply with regulations pertaining to health and safety at work legislation and adhere to school policies relating to safe working practice and equal opportunities regulations.
• Comply with the school's Performance Management Policy, ensuring challenging annual targets are set and fulfilling the role of performance management reviewer if directed by the Principal.
• Engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding, and health and safety, together with all training deemed appropriate for school improvement or performance management.
• Comply with the school's staff dress code at all times, including the wearing of photo ID and lanyard.
• Comply with the school's computer Acceptable Use Policy at all times.
• Attend all staff briefings.
• Sign out and sign in at relevant school reception if off site at any point during the normal working day.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree.
• An "A" Level in Science is advantageous.
• Appreciation of the importance of high standards.
• Experience in a similar role.
• Experience working in an educational setup.
