Saudi Arabia: Rig Material Controller

Role Overview

Rig Material Controller at Helmerich & Payne (H&P) in Saudi Arabia. This role manages material acquisition, inventory control, and supply chain processes on behalf of the organization's supply chain management function.

Role Purpose

The Material Controller performs individual and collective responsibilities to support the efficient and effective acquisition of goods and services. The role ensures the supply chain management policy, practice framework, standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures are implemented and maintained across the purchase-to-pay cycle.

Key Responsibilities

Material Processing & Control

• Review and process material requirements created by requesters to ensure minimum mandatory information is provided and timely efficient processing can proceed.
• Review and process stock movements and goods receipts to ensure all items are assigned to correct store locations.
• Book service entries.
• Book goods receipt.
• Raise purchase requisitions.
• Manage stock level responsibility of USD 1 million.
• Monitor and control SAP business processes and standards covering the entire purchase-to-pay cycle.

Inventory & Cost Optimization

• Maintain master data records to reflect changes made by storemen.
• Utilize existing group stock to minimize external spend and optimize turnover rates.
• Review requests and utilize existing group stock to minimize external spend and optimize turnover rates.
• Improve external spending through analysis and utilization of available stock within the group.
• Minimize processing time and increase quality of purchase requisitions to enable subsequent functions to identify requirements clearly.

Planning & Coordination

• Coordinate clarifications required with requesters or involved functions in daily business.
• Identify, support, plan, and coordinate bulk orders in line with the supervisor.
• Support and deliver specific ad-hoc projects in terms of business process improvement or management of external spend.
• Support functional leadership and colleagues in the acquisition of goods and services and supporting strategies and plans that make acquisition efficient and effective for the business.
• Develop and support implementation of the SCM policy and practice framework including standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures.
• Deliver assigned objectives from the SCM annual business plan.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Gather all required information on status update requests and maintain communication with internal clients on behalf of the SCM department.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with local and international purchasers for clarifications, status updates, and service requests.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with the coding team for work-related matters.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with the finance department for service entry bookings.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with rig warehouse staff to process purchase requisitions and address clarifications.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with customs coordinator and logistics supervisor for transport arrangements.
• Maintain ongoing relationships with requesters to provide status updates.
• Act as the communication focal point between all parties as "one face to the customer."
• Engage with external auditors when required.

Compliance & Performance

• Ensure set KPIs are met and improved and that issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate compliance against all worldwide standards and procedures and policies.
