Role Overview
Driller in Saudi Arabia with Helmerich & Payne (H&P).
Role Purpose
The Driller is primarily responsible for safe operations, repairing drilling equipment, daily reporting, well control practices, and providing guidance to work crews.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Demonstrate core values and safety standards according to the H&P way
- Ensure the safe operation of the drill rig, related equipment and personnel that come directly under their control
- Comply with federal, state and territory health, safety and environmental legislation
- Supervise operations to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and established procedures by assigned rig crew
- Ensure safety equipment is in proper working order and in the appropriate locations
- Monitor and ensure proper well control practices are followed as per H&P operating procedure
- Implement safety and security measures for protection of personnel against threat or injury
- Implement safety and security measures for protection of company property and assets against loss from sources such as fire and theft, including intellectual property and proprietary assets
- Implement safety and security measures for protection of IT software and hardware
- Apply relevant Saudi legislation as it pertains to drilling, HSE obligations and expectations, reporting and audit
- Demonstrate commitment to H&P's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and C.A.R.E. processes (COACH people-based safety, Compass Cards, LifeBelts, JSAs, hotwork, confined space entry, lock-out/tag-out, dropped object prevention) with a proven track record of compliance
- Lead, understand and apply local, territory, state and federal statutory obligations
Crew Management & Training
- Supervise and provide expectations, goals and training for work crew personnel regarding rigging up or rigging down, day-to-day operations and company policies and procedures
- Consult with crews and optimize safety and productivity outcomes
Operations & Equipment
- Maintain drilling rigs clean and in proper order
- Supervise repairs of equipment
- Operate rig and systems from control panel to maximize drilling and tripping efficiency
- Supervise operations on the rig floor
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and submit drilling operations reports
- Provide regular updates and reports and work closely with site management
Professional Development
- Remain up to date on current Workday trainings as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of rig drilling experience
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Proficient with Totco/Pason and IADC report
- Proven leadership skills
- Team player mentality
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
