Saudi Arabia: Assistant Driller

Role Overview

Assistant Driller at Helmerich & Payne (H&P) in Saudi Arabia. This role assists the Driller and manages drilling crew operations while maintaining company, client, and KCA DEUTAG quality and safety standards.

Role Purpose

The Assistant Driller undertakes assigned tasks efficiently and timeously, stands in for the Driller during drilling and tripping operations, and manages the drilling crew to ensure safe, compliant, and productive rig site execution.

Key Responsibilities

Rig Site Supervision & Housekeeping

• Supervise and participate in order, cleanliness, and housekeeping at rig site.
• Supervise the correct storage of drilling equipment.

Equipment & Tools Management

• Maintain drilling tools and equipment.
• Supervise and assist the drilling crew in preparing equipment.
• Order and supervise the loading of rig equipment before rig moves under direction of the Tool Pusher and Driller.
• Check that the drill string is in good condition.
• Supervise the good maintenance of all sheaves in the derrick/mast.

Inspections & Safety

• Inspect the derrick/mast and equipment, record inspections, and report and correct defects after approval by the Tool Pusher.
• Supervise the handling on the rig floor, especially when picking up or laying down drilling equipment.
• Familiarize yourself with the client's rules to control a kick and apply them under the orders of the Driller.

Crew & Operational Leadership

• Replace the Derrickman at any time at the request of the Driller.
• Replace the Driller at the brake when pulling out, running into casing, or when drilling a non-productive zone.
• Perform any job requested by the Driller or Tool Pusher within your competence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory role within drilling operations.
• IWCF Well Control Certification or equivalent (Wellsharp).
• Banksman/Slinger certificate.
• Highly experienced and knowledgeable in area of expertise.

Skills & Competencies
