Role Overview
SAP Basis & Security Lead at Alwatania Information Systems. This role leads the SAP Basis technical operations function, combining hands-on technical expertise with team leadership and strategic system management.
Role Purpose
Establish and maintain SAP technical operations excellence through direct team leadership, system administration, security governance, and execution of infrastructure changes across the SAP landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
- Directly manage, mentor, and task-assign the SAP Basis technical team.
- Manage day-to-day work for internal Basis engineers to ensure strict adherence to SLAs.
System Administration & Operations
- Lead the administration, monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of SAP landscapes (S/4HANA, ECC, BW, Solution Manager, ALM, Cloud Connector).
- Establish best practices, standards, and operational guidelines for SAP Basis operations.
Infrastructure Projects & Maintenance
- Design, plan, and execute SAP system upgrades, system refreshes, kernel updates, database migrations, and patch implementations (Support Packages/Stack).
- Manage backup and recovery strategies, high availability (HA) setups, and Disaster Recovery (DR) drills.
Security & Compliance
- Oversee SAP system security, user authorization concepts, transport management, and audit compliance protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- 10 or more years of SAP Basis experience.
- Proven experience as SAP Basis Lead or Technical Lead.
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP landscapes (S/4HANA, ECC, BW, Solution Manager, SAP HANA).
- Expertise in SAP Basis administration, upgrades, migrations, system refreshes, kernel updates, and performance tuning.
- Strong knowledge of SAP Security, user authorization, roles, and audit compliance.
- Experience managing SAP Basis teams and ensuring SLA compliance.
- Experience with HA/DR and backup and recovery strategies.
Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
