Role Overview
Safety Officer - Construction with MIRA Construction. On-site role based at Project Office and Construction Site.
Role Purpose
Implement, monitor, and improve Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, legislation, and performance across construction projects. Ensure contractors comply with applicable safety measures, investigate incidents, and drive continuous HSE improvement through leadership and oversight.
Key Responsibilities
HSE Policy & Implementation
- Implement HSE Policy, HSE Plan, HSE legislation, and other regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with Safety Manager and Contractors for improvement and implementation of Corporate HSE Management ethics.
- Review Emergency Preparedness and response procedures, Permit to Work system, HSE meetings, HSE statistics, and contractor records according to Company requirements.
Contractor Oversight & Compliance
- Monitor contractors to ensure implementation of applicable Safety measures and best practices.
- Review and monitor Contractors' monthly HSE inspections and reports.
- Review Incident and Accident investigation reports from contractors and communicate learning points.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor HSE performance and HSE targets.
- Suggest measures for further improvement.
- Conduct monthly Safety meetings, establish targets to address outstanding issues, and prepare and submit minutes to all concerned for follow-up.
- Report and communicate learning points from contractor incidents to relevant parties.
- Monitor immediate action and follow-up actions to minimize and prevent re-occurrence.
General Duties
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Diploma or B.Sc. or equivalent degree in environmental science, loss prevention, or any relevant engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Recognised Health and Safety education, SARS card (training in UAE preferred), or NEBOSH/IOSH certificates.
- Trakhees card holder or desire to obtain one.
- Minimum 3+ years of construction supervision experience working as a Safety Officer.
- Recent construction supervision experience.
- Experience in UAE is preferable.
Skills & Competencies
- Valid UAE driving license is an advantage.
