Role Purpose
The Safety Inspector oversees occupational safety at road and highway construction sites, ensuring compliance with HSE guidelines and legal requirements while preventing incidents and maintaining safe working conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Inspections and Monitoring
- Conduct daily HSE inspections of road projects, work zones, and equipment.
- Monitor implementation of risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.
- Verify compliance with traffic management measures and safe movement of vehicles and machinery.
Hazard Management
- Identify hazards and unsafe practices; issue corrective actions and follow up.
- Ensure workers use proper PPE and follow safety procedures.
Training and Communication
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions.
Investigation and Documentation
- Participate in incident and near-miss investigations.
- Maintain safety logs, daily reports, and audit documentation.
Emergency Preparedness
- Support emergency preparedness and drills.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Engineering or Occupational Safety.
- 3–7 years HSE experience in road or infrastructure projects.
- Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or OSHA preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong hazard identification and reporting skills.
- Good communication and safety leadership qualities.
