Role Purpose

Lead rigging operations to safely and efficiently move, position, and secure heavy loads and equipment on industrial projects, ensuring compliance with lifting capacities, equipment safety standards, and site protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Load Assessment & Planning

• Check loads to be moved and estimate size, shape, weight, and center of gravity.
• Ensure loads do not exceed lifting capacities of cranes.
• Choose and select proper slings, lifting gears, and other grappling devices.
• Cover sharp corners with padding to prevent damage to slings.

Equipment & Attachment

• Attach lifting devices to hoisting equipment and items to be moved, using clamps, hooks, bolts, and knots.

Safety & Communication

• Continually alert for people or objects which may come in the path of the load.
• Monitor areas where the load is not visible to crane or winch operators.
• Use hand signals, whistles, or two-way radios to communicate hazards and instructions.

Load Positioning

• Guide loads into position as they are lowered.

Heavy Equipment Operations

• Lift and shift heavy equipment, large-size pipes, and control valves using large-capacity cranes up to 500 tonnes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Secondary (12 years) certificate; preferably Industrial Training Institute (ITI) certificate holder.
• Seven years of relevant hands-on experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Fertilizer industry.
• Valid Rigging certificate from competent and certified agency.
