Role Overview
Resident Engineer – UAE with WSP Middle East. This is a site-based supervision role on major projects across the United Arab Emirates.

Role Purpose
Lead site supervision activities on major structural and infrastructure projects, coordinate with key stakeholders, and ensure successful delivery of high-quality works in compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and quality management systems.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Supervision & Management
- Lead construction supervision activities for the assigned project.
- Establish a construction management plan to ensure all contracts are administered to a common standard and practice.
- Monitor the Contractor's progress during construction and regularly assess output.
Contract & Stakeholder Management
- Initiate and respond to contract correspondence to and from the Client and Contractor.
- Arrange, chair and record meetings, commencing with the kick-off meeting and thereafter progress and management meetings as deemed necessary.
- Ensure the Contractor liaises with service and other authorities in a timely manner to avoid affecting progress of works by attending meetings, monitoring agreed programmes and conducting regular follow-up.
Inspection, Testing & Commissioning
- Establish procedures for inspection approvals, testing and commissioning in accordance with the contract requirements.
- Certify interim and finalize payments after full review and consultation with responsible team members.
- Prepare substantial completion reports including any outstanding requirements.
- Issue taking-over and defects liability certificates as required under the contract.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Review the Contractor's HSE plan and ensure that safety procedures are followed at site.
- Implement QMS requirements and conduct regular audits.
Programming & Resource Monitoring
- Review and comment on the Contractor's programs, ensuring they are sufficiently detailed to demonstrate compliance with contract requirements, allocated resources and cash flow.
Qualifications & Experience
- BEng or BSc (Hons) in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 20 years' experience managing major building projects, including high-rise developments, luxury hotels, large-scale residential complexes and commercial buildings.
- Prior UAE experience with a consulting background.
- Comprehensive proficiency in discipline-specific software.
Skills & Competencies
- Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
