Role Overview

Resident Engineer - Electrical at WSP Middle East. This is a 2-month assignment.

Role Purpose

Lead and manage all aspects of substation projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring adherence to project objectives, schedules, and budgets while collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Management

• Lead and manage all aspects of substation projects from initiation to closeout, ensuring adherence to project objectives, schedules, and budgets.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Manage project documentation, including contracts, permits, NOC, drawings, and reports, to ensure accurate record-keeping and facilitate project communication and reporting.

Engineering Review & Compliance

• Review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for substations to ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and safety protocols throughout the project lifecycle.

Procurement & Coordination

• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to procure materials, equipment, and services necessary for project implementation.
• Verification and certification of materials and work measurements.

Construction & Site Supervision

• Supervise construction activities, including installation of hardware and accessories, to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance checks to monitor progress, identify issues, and resolve construction-related challenges in a timely manner.
• Conduct regular progress review meetings, project scope review and verification.
• Witness site acceptance and factory acceptance tests and commissioning of the line.
• Verify all as-built documents.

Reporting & Documentation

• Conduct HSE auditing of work and reporting.
• Maintain complete project records, including technical documentation, test reports, and as-built drawings, ensuring proper handover upon project completion.
• Complete the project closeout process.

Technical Leadership & Support

• Provide technical guidance and support to project team members, supporting the Principal Resident Engineer, Project Manager, contractor, and clients.
• Address technical inquiries, resolve disputes, and mitigate project risks.
• Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and excellence among project team members, promoting continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on overhead transmission line projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of transmission line design, construction, and maintenance practices, including tower configurations, conductor types, and insulation methods.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools, such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and AutoCAD.

Additional Information

• Willingness to travel to project sites as needed and work flexible hours to accommodate project requirements.
