The Deanship of Research and Graduate Studies at Ajman University operates the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIRC) to advance cutting-edge AI research and innovation aligned with the university's strategic goals.

Role Purpose

Conduct innovative research in Artificial Intelligence, contribute to teaching and student supervision, secure external funding, and engage with academic, industry, and community stakeholders to advance the university's mission and visibility in AI research and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Publications

• Conduct innovative research in Artificial Intelligence, including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Robotics, AI Ethics, and Explainable AI.
• Publish in high-impact, Scopus-indexed Q1/Q2 journals and top-tier AI conferences including NeurIPS, ICML, CVPR, and ACL.
• Present research findings at national and international conferences and symposia.

Teaching & Supervision

• Deliver courses and workshops in AI-related disciplines such as algorithms, data science, AI ethics, and intelligent systems.
• Mentor and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in AI research projects, theses, and capstone initiatives.

Grants & Funding

• Develop and submit competitive grant proposals to secure external funding from governmental, industrial, and international agencies including UAE AI initiatives, Horizon Europe, and NSF.
• Manage funded projects and ensure alignment with institutional and grant requirements.

Service & Engagement

• Organize workshops, seminars, and conferences to promote AI innovation and knowledge exchange.
• Foster collaborations with industry partners such as tech firms, healthcare organizations, and smart cities initiatives.
• Foster collaborations with government entities and global academic networks.
• Enhance the visibility of Ajman University and the AIRC through public engagement, media outreach, and thought leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a closely related field from a globally recognized institution.
• Strong publication record in high-impact AI journals and conferences with demonstrated h-index and citation impact.
• Proven experience teaching AI-related courses and supervising student research at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Prior success in securing and managing external research grants is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in programming languages: Python, R, and Java.
• Expertise in AI frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Keras.
• Proficiency in big data tools: Hadoop and Spark.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms: AWS and Azure.
• Proficiency in AI deployment practices and MLOps.
• Familiarity with ethical AI principles and regulatory standards.
• Familiarity with interdisciplinary applications including healthcare and sustainability.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
• Leadership abilities to drive collaborative, cross-disciplinary projects.
