Role Overview
Registered Nurse - Women Centre OPD at King's College Hospital London. The Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) Outpatient Department Registered Nurse (OPD RN) is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to patients attending the outpatient OB/GYN clinic.
Role Purpose
The role involves recording patient histories, performing diagnostic tests, administering prescribed medications, and developing individualized care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The OPD RN assists physicians during examinations and procedures, while operating and monitoring medical equipment as required to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Assessment and Care Planning
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the needs of patients on an ongoing basis.
- Record patient histories.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Clinical Procedures and Support
- Perform diagnostic tests.
- Administer prescribed medications.
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Operate and monitor medical equipment as required to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Communication and Patient Relations
- Ensure that all patients and their relatives are updated regularly with accurate information, presented in a sensitive way and one that they understand.
- Communicate with patients and families in a clear and culturally sensitive manner.
Patient Rights and Professional Standards
- Respect and protect patient rights, dignity, cultural preferences, privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintain ethical behavior, professionalism, integrity and respectful interactions with patients, families and colleagues.
Quality and Compliance
- Participate in audits, quality-improvement activities and performance reviews to support continuous organizational improvement.
- Follow all relevant hospital policies, procedures and JCIA-related standards applicable to the role.
Qualifications & Experience
- UAE Medical Health Authority License (DHA).
- Bachelor's degree in nursing.
- Demonstrable experience as a registered nurse working with low and high-risk women with obstetric and gynecological issues, in an acute setting.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a hospital or similar setting.
- Understanding of professional and current issues in Obstetrics and Gynaecology nursing.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and stakeholders.
