Registered Nurse - OPD

Role Overview

Registered Nurse - OPD at NMC Healthcare. This role supports outpatient department operations and direct patient care delivery.

Role Purpose

Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care in the outpatient setting, including assessment, treatment planning, clinical interventions, and patient education, while working collaboratively with physicians and the interprofessional team to ensure safe, effective outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Care Planning

• Perform systematic patient assessment and re-assessment, collecting pertinent data about the patient's health or situation.
• Understand and analyse assessment information and data.
• Determine actual and potential nursing diagnoses, problems, and issues.
• Define predicted and expected outcomes of the patient's planned care.
• Create and evaluate patient care plans with the interprofessional team, in collaboration with the patient and patient's bystanders.
• Assess and identify patients' needs and implement and monitor the patient's medical plan and treatment.

Clinical Monitoring & Safety

• Record vital signs, recognize, address and escalate all abnormalities.
• Monitor patients for medication side effects and reactions.
• Administer treatments such as IV fluids or blood products and monitor patients for any reactions.
• Employ strategies to promote patients' health and a safe environment.

Direct Patient Care & Interventions

• Provide and coordinate patient care, educating patients and the public about various health conditions.
• Provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.
• Prepare patients for medical examination and treatment.
• Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects and reactions.
• Provide wound care management.
• Assist in medical procedures invasive or non-invasive as needed.

Emergency & Life Support

• Perform essential life support as per regulatory requirements and scope such as but not limited to Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation.

Clinical Knowledge & Skills

• Maintain and update technical and clinical skills related to nursing practice.
• Understand different diagnostic tests and laboratory examinations.

Patient Flow & Coordination

• Facilitate the process of safe patient admission, transfer and discharge.
• Work with a team of physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various settings.

Qualifications & Experience

• Hold an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with all qualifications and experience these mandates require.
• Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.

Skills & Competencies

• Communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
• Communicate effectively in Arabic (desirable).
• Work as part of an inter-professional team (desirable).
• Organizational and administrative skills with use of the electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation (desirable).
• Manage own professional re-licensure.
