Quality Inspector (Painting & Coating)

Role Overview

Quality Inspector (Painting & Coating) at McDermott. The Quality Inspector applies conceptual knowledge of inspection and, with moderate guidance from colleagues and leadership, solves a range of straightforward inspection problems by analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures and building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers.

Role Purpose

Ensure product conformity to customer specifications and project requirements through daily surveillance and inspection test plan (ITP) inspection points, while identifying non-conformities for rectification and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to prevent quality issues.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Conformity

• Determine product conformity to customer specifications through daily surveillances and ITP inspection points in accordance with the Project Quality Plan.
• Appraise product quality to determine conformity and non-conformity in accordance with approved drawings and inspection & Test Plan.
• Document all inspection results; raise documentation to establish corrective action when non-conformity exists.

Non-Conformity Management

• Identify non-conformity for rectification and ensure final resolution.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate interface with Operations, Certifying Authority, Client, Job Sharing personnel, and subcontractor, assuring conformity to project specifications.
• Liaise with customer representatives, ensuring product conformity and stage release for each activity denoted within the Project Quality Plan/ITP.

Problem Prevention

• Exercise a proactive approach to prevention of problems by interacting with Production, Engineers, and Management personnel.

Qualifications & Experience

• High school diploma or degree in relevant field of study.
• 5+ years of Quality Control or discipline-related experience with a degree; 8+ years with a diploma.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in the use of computer and Microsoft programs.
