QC Supervisor - Steel Structure

Role Overview

QC Supervisor - Steel Structure at Samsung E&A. This position supervises quality activities in steel structure disciplines in accordance with the quality management system established by the QC Manager.

Role Purpose

Plan, control and perform inspections and tests on steel structure disciplines while managing inspectors responsible for those disciplines. Supervise quality activities according to established quality management systems and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Performance Monitoring

• Monitor work performance according to risk management results.
• Manage actual results of Quality Performance Indicators.
• Identify and mitigate quality risks.

Inspections and Testing

• Plan, control and perform inspections and tests on assigned discipline.
• Conduct audits and inspections.
• Apply advanced inspection techniques and tools.
• Perform material testing methods and documentation.

Discipline Management

• Manage work performance on steel structure discipline per applicable work processes.
• Manage inspectors in the disciplines for which they are responsible.
• Apply Structural engineering principles and practices.
• Implement steel structure codes and standards (e.g. AISC).
• Understand steel structure drawings and specifications.
• Apply quality control and inspection techniques for steel structures.
• Maintain discipline knowledge and experience in Process structures, pipe racks, platforms, offshore structures.

Corrective Action and Issue Resolution

• Coordinate and monitor with other disciplines to provide corrective action.
• Liaise and solve Quality-related matters with clients including Quality Issues, NCR (non-compliance records), and Observations.

System Management

• Manage work activity through system management tools such as FMCS (Facility Monitoring and Control System) and SCMS (Supply Chain Management System).

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant field.
• 10+ years of direct work experience in inspection of capital projects quality.
• Familiarity with project specifications and standards and medium to large-sized project experience.
• Experience in oil, gas, petrochemical or power plants.
• Engineering and Construction Company working experience in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries.
• Certification in NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Level II or higher.
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification.
