Role Purpose

To perform quality control inspection activities in the Welding discipline in accordance with the established quality management system, project requirements, and international codes and standards. The role ensures all welding work conforms to specifications through systematic inspection, documentation, and coordination with subcontractors and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection Planning & Documentation

• Establish inspection and test plans and record forms per project requirements and international codes and standards.
• Generate client Requests For Inspection (RFI) with sufficient notice for hold, witness, and inspection points.
• Prepare, review, and approve inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
• Prepare and review Quality procedure documents submitted by Subcontractors, including Inspection Test Plan (ITP) and Material Approval Request (MAR).
• Conduct and witness Procedure Qualification, Destructive testing, and verify compliance with codes and standards.
• Prepare, review, and witness PQR, WPS, and Procedure documentation.
• Review and track material submittals required for Welding Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.

Inspection Execution & Quality Control

• Perform quality activities in accordance with the established quality management system.
• Carry out inspections on the Welding discipline to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements and record results.
• Manage and perform inspection of Welding discipline with minimal supervision.
• Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals, conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with the onsite logistics team.
• Verify welding qualification and ensure that only qualified welders are used in production.
• Verify that adequate and valid welder approvals are available.
• Confirm welding consumables before starting welding (Electrodes, filler wires, inserts, gases, fluxes, etc.).
• Monitor heat treatment requirements (PRE HEAT TEMP, PWHT, etc.).
• Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations and figure out solutions.

Coordination & Subcontractor Management

• Coordinate direct activities with other discipline inspectors to maintain consistency and integrity in overall construction.
• Perform and coordinate inspection with client.
• Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Subcontractors related to Welding Definable Features of Work.
• Inspect piping, welding, painting, and insulation activities and support subcontractors to ensure quality and efficiency in accordance with project specification.
• Review Customer's technical specifications and Quality Assurance Plans, QC Procedures, and NDE procedures to assist with establishing acceptable working practices for construction activities.
• Verify contractor quality requirements are specified to vendors and review contractor documentation submittals.
• Review quality inspection personnel qualifications and training requirements.
• Control quality violations through regular tool box talks with the construction team.
• Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.

Compliance & Documentation Control

• Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.
• Control inspection status by using systematic tools such as inspection matrix.
• Set and apply practical inspection processes of the particular discipline based on Project requirements and International Codes, providing ITP and managing Matrix.
• Control NCRs to be closed out within the due date and support preparation of Corrective Action Plan properly.
• Ensure to apply lessons learnt and proper preventive action conducted.
• Attend all pre-bid meetings and coordinate all project requirements with the project bidders.

Supervisory & Leadership

• Carry out QC Supervisor's responsibility in their absence.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School graduate or higher education.
• Overall Experience: 5 years.
• Experience of Inspection Specialty: 3 years.
• Experience of Contract Scope of Work: 2 years.
• Aramco experience is required.
• Certified as an American Welding Society CWI, CSWIP 3.1 Certified Welding Inspector, or Company approved equivalent.
• For Nondestructive Testing (NDT), candidate shall have been previously qualified and certified to a minimum ASNT Level II in the relevant method(s).
• When performing, reviewing, or ensuring Nondestructive Testing in VT, MT, PT, RT, or UT, candidate shall be certified in the specific method(s).
• When performing, reviewing, or ensuring Radiographic Testing Film Interpretation (RTFI), Inspector shall be certified in RTFI.
• CBT Pass is preferred for QC Inspector.

Skills & Competencies

• Thorough knowledge of codes: ASME B 31.3, 31.4 and 31.8, ASME Section V and IX, API 620 and 650, AWS D1.1.
• Technical knowledge and familiarity with related international codes and standards in the Welding discipline.
• Ability to check that suitable and appropriate inspection and test tools are used.
• Capability of planning and controlling inspections for medium scale projects (0.5–1.5 billion dollar).

• Work location: Fadhili, Saudi Arabia.
• Involvement in Off plot, Marine/Jetty, Carbon black, and LNG Concrete Tank projects.
• Experience with Construction Completion, Pre-commissioning Activities, Plant Start-Up, Operation, Maintenance, and Final Handover.
