Role Overview
QC Inspector – Structural at ABIS. The role performs inspection and testing of structural steel fabrication and erection activities to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
Role Purpose
Conduct in-process and final inspections on structural steel fabrication and erection works to ensure all activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards. Identify and report non-conformances, maintain comprehensive inspection documentation, and coordinate with clients and third-party inspectors to support quality handover.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Testing
- Perform in-process and final inspections on structural steel fabrication and erection works.
- Witness structural bolting, welding, and alignment checks per the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
- Verify structural steel installation against approved drawings, erection plans, and tolerances.
- Verify materials (structural steel, bolts, coatings) against material certificates and specifications.
- Verify calibration status of measuring and test equipment used on site.
- Ensure work fronts comply with approved method statements and structural codes (AISC, etc.).
Documentation & Reporting
- Record inspection results and raise Non-Conformance Reports as required.
- Maintain inspection records, checklists, and daily QC reports.
- Support preparation of quality documentation for structural handover dossiers.
Coordination & Verification
- Coordinate hold points and inspections with client and third-party inspectors.
- Support punch-list generation and verification of closure for structural works.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5–8 years of experience as a QC Inspector on structural steel construction projects.
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- QC or inspection certification preferred.
