Role Overview

QC Inspector - Preservation (Rotating) at Samsung E&A. This is a quality control inspection role focused on mechanical discipline preservation activities, including rotating equipment, with a rotating shift pattern.

Role Purpose

Execute quality control and inspection activities in accordance with the established quality management system, ensuring that mechanical discipline work performed conforms to quality requirements, international codes and standards, and project specifications through systematic inspection planning, execution, documentation and non-conformance management.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection Planning & Documentation

• Establish inspection and test plans and record forms in accordance with project requirements and international codes and standards.
• Prepare and review Quality procedure documents submitted by Subcontractors, including Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Material Approval Requests (MAR).
• Prepare, review and approve inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
• Generate client Requests For Inspection (RFI) where required, providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
• Review and track material submittals required for Mechanical Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.

Inspection Execution & Control

• Perform quality activities in accordance with the quality management system established.
• Manage and perform inspection of Mechanical discipline to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements.
• Carry out inspections on disciplines responsible and record results.
• Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.
• Set and apply practical inspection process of particular discipline based on Project requirements and International Codes, providing ITP and managing Matrix.
• Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals; conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with the onsite logistics team.
• Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.
• Monitor and inspect specific Mechanical related activities such as site erection of static and rotating equipment.
• Ensure critical mechanical activities such as rotating equipment flange parallelism, final alignment and final inspection are conducted as per Contract, Specification and Requirements.

Non-Conformance & Quality Management

• Control Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) to be closed out within the due date and support preparation of Corrective Action Plans properly.
• Control quality violations through regular tool box talk with the construction team.
• Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations and figure out solutions.
• Ensure lessons learned are applied and proper preventive action conducted.

Stakeholder & Client Coordination

• Perform and coordinate inspection with client.
• Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Subcontractors related to Mechanical Definable Features of Work.
• Carry out QC Supervisor's responsibility in their absence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
• Certified by API (API 686).
• Aramco experience is required.
• SAP No. and CBT completion preferred; mention in CV if available.
• Overall experience of 5 years with 3 years in Inspection speciality or field and 2 years in managing contract scope of work.
• Direct work experience and thorough knowledge of static and rotating mechanical equipment, commodities, materials construction, pre-commissioning and quality activities required for the work.

Skills & Competencies

• Technical knowledge and familiarity with related international codes and standards in particular discipline.
• Thorough knowledge of work-related engineering codes and standards, such as ASTM, API, IEC, NEMA, UL, FM, NFPA, ASME BPVC (Sections I, V, VIII and IX); ANSI/ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 and B73; NACE SPs, API 620, API 650 and AWS D1.1.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical process systems inspection and testing; procedures, tools and test equipment used in receiving, storage, fabrication, erection, construction and pre-commissioning of steam and combustion turbines, diesel engines, pumps, compressors, motors and generators, mixers and agitators, fans, gearboxes, firewater pumps and motors, auxiliary cooling and lubrication systems, packaged process equipment, pipe, pipe fittings, valves, pressure vessels, fired heaters, tanks, structural steel, hot/cold insulation and other equipment and commodities as required for the work.
