Role Purpose

Perform quality inspection and control activities for mechanical discipline on construction projects in accordance with established quality management systems, international codes and standards. Ensure all work performed conforms to quality requirements through systematic inspection planning, execution, documentation and coordination with clients and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection Planning & Documentation

• Establish inspection and test plans and record forms as per project requirements and international codes and standards.
• Generate client Requests For Inspection (RFI) providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
• Prepare, review and approve inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
• Prepare and review quality procedure documents submitted by subcontractors, including Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Material Approval Requests (MAR).
• Review and track material submittals required for Mechanical Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
• Conduct Preparatory Meetings with subcontractors related to Mechanical Definable Features of Work.

Inspection Execution & Monitoring

• Perform quality activities in accordance with the quality management system established.
• Carry out inspections on mechanical discipline to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements and record results.
• Perform and coordinate inspections with the client.
• Monitor and inspect specific mechanical-related activities such as site erection of static and rotating equipment.
• Ensure critical mechanical activities such as rotating equipment flange parallelism, final alignment and final inspection are conducted as per contract, specification and requirements.
• Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals, conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with onsite logistics team.
• Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.

Quality Control & Non-Conformance Management

• Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.
• Control inspection status by using systematic tools such as inspection matrix.
• Control Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) to be closed out within the due date and support preparation of Corrective Action Plans.
• Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations to determine solutions.
• Control quality violations through regular toolbox talks with the construction team.
• Ensure lessons learned are applied and proper preventive action is conducted.

Supervision & Leadership

• Carry out QC Supervisor's responsibility in their absence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
• API certification: API 653 and API 510.
• Aramco experience is mandatory; candidates with SAP No. and CBT pass should mention this in their CV.
• Overall experience of 5 years with 3 years in inspection specialty or field and 2 years in managing contract scope of work.
• Direct work experience and thorough knowledge of static and rotating mechanical equipment, commodities, materials construction, pre-commissioning and quality activities required for the work.

Skills & Competencies

• Technical knowledge and familiarity with related international codes and standards in mechanical discipline.
• Thorough knowledge of work-related engineering codes and standards: ASTM, API, IEC, NEMA, UL, FM, NFPA, ASME BPVC (Sections I, V, VIII and IX), ANSI/ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 and B73, NACE SPs, API 620, API 650 and AWS D1.1.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanical process systems inspection and testing; procedures, tools and test equipment used in receiving, storage, fabrication, erection, construction and pre-commissioning of steam and combustion turbines, diesel engines, pumps, compressors, motors and generators, mixers and agitators, fans, gearboxes, firewater pumps and motors, auxiliary cooling and lubrication systems, packaged process equipment, pipe, pipe fittings, valves, pressure vessels, fired heaters, tanks, structural steel, hot/cold insulation and other equipment and commodities.
• Ability to check that suitable and appropriate inspection and test tools are used.
