Role Purpose

To oversee Quality Assurance and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities throughout construction and commissioning phases, ensuring all work conforms to quality requirements, international codes and standards, and project specifications through systematic inspection planning, surveillance, and control.

Key Responsibilities

NDE Inspection & Monitoring

• Monitor UT, RT, MT, PT, VT, PMI, PAUT/ToFD, and HT NDT methods.
• Monitor Pre-Heat and Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) of welded joints and chart review of PWHT joints.
• Perform UT, MT, and PT on material during Raw, Semi-machined, and Final machined stages.
• Interpret and evaluate NDT results including radiographic films.
• Manage and perform inspection of NDE activities.
• Carry out surveillance activities relating to Quality and NDE inspection in-house and with external vendors.

Planning & Documentation

• Review technical specifications and prepare Quality Assurance Plans and QC documentation.
• Establish inspection and test plans and record forms as per project requirements and international codes and standards.
• Prepare and review Quality procedure documents submitted by Subcontractors including Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and Material Approval Requests (MAR).
• Prepare, review, and approve related inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
• Set and apply practical inspection processes based on Project requirements and International Codes, providing ITP and managing inspection matrix.
• Review and track material submittals required for NDE Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
• Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Sub-contractors related to NDE Definable Features of Work.

Client & Inspection Coordination

• Generate client Requests For Inspection (RFI) where required, providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
• Perform and coordinate inspection with client.
• Carry out QC Supervisor's responsibility in their absence.

Material & Delivery Management

• Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals.
• Conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with the onsite logistics team.
• Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.

Quality Control & Compliance

• Perform quality activities in accordance with the quality management system established.
• Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.
• Control NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) to be closed out within the due date and support preparation of Corrective Action Plans.
• Control quality violations through regular tool box talk with the construction team.
• Ensure all personnel employed and operating in NDE and PWHT activities are duly skilled and qualified in accordance with applicable specifications, codes and regulations.
• Ensure to apply lessons learnt and proper preventive action conducted.
• Monitor NDE Procedures and assist with establishing acceptable working practices for Construction activities.
• Carry out inspections on discipline responsible to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements and record results.

Technical Interpretation

• Understand and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
• Identify risks to the quality of work and the completion program and associated solutions.
• Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations and figure out solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Documented experience in direct NDT and Welding Inspection experience.
• Experience in the coordination of NDT works on major construction sites.
• Hands-on experience as QC/Welding/NDE Inspector in related industries.
• Experience from project start to completion.
• Aramco experience is required.
• Capability of planning and controlling inspections for medium scale projects (0.5–1.5 billion dollar).

• AWS Level-III RT, UT, MPT, LPT, and VT
• CWI
• Certified ASNT Level II on RT, PT, MT, and UT
• Quality Auditor ISO 9001:2008
• CBT Pass is preferred for QC inspector

Technical Knowledge

• Comprehensive knowledge of Inspection activities as per applicable codes and standards.
• Technical knowledge and familiarity with related international codes and standards.
• Good working knowledge of ISO standards, ASME IX, API 6A, and other Quality and Productivity tools.
• Ability to check that suitable and appropriate inspection and test tools are used.
