Role Purpose
The Project Quantity Surveyor manages cost estimation, budgets, and commercial administration for construction projects. The role ensures accurate financial forecasting, contract compliance, and cost control across the project lifecycle while coordinating with project teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Analysis
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documentation.
- Review drawings and specifications to identify project requirements and cost implications.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and cost analysis for construction projects.
- Support procurement activities and material cost evaluations.
Budget & Cost Management
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost control processes.
- Monitor project expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Evaluate subcontractor quotations and prepare comparative analyses.
- Assess and certify subcontractor progress payments.
Contract & Commercial Administration
- Prepare and administer contracts, variations, progress claims, and final accounts.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Prepare periodic commercial and financial reports for management.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Quantity Surveying or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 5–7 years of proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction projects.
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Experience in building or infrastructure projects in the UAE is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, contracts, and cost management.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying and estimation software.
- Strong understanding of BOQ preparation and tendering processes.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience using AutoCAD, CostX, Planswift, or similar software is a plus.
- Knowledge of FIDIC and various UAE Authorities contracts is preferred.
