Project Planner

Role Overview

Project Planner at Al Tayer Group. The role prepares turnkey project work programs according to guidelines from the Project Manager or Estimation Manager and monitors project progress against the plan to ensure completion within the specified timeframe.

Role Purpose

Develop comprehensive project work programs and schedules, monitor execution against plan, and provide timely progress reporting to ensure projects complete on time and within scope.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling

• Prepare work programs specifying time required to complete each construction process including material procurement, mobilization, installation, and manpower requirements.
• Prepare master project schedule and plans during tender phase and program to the Construction Manager, Project Execution team, and clients as required for review and approval.
• Prepare critical path analysis and impact program in assessment of Extension of Time.

Project Monitoring & Reporting

• Monitor closely each process of the project in coordination with the Construction Manager and planning engineer to ensure the plan is being followed properly and work proceeds as per program.
• Prepare reports on progress and causes of program and progress variations.
• Prepare project progress reports for management highlighting achievement against program, investigating delays, and suggesting corrective actions.
• Review monthly progress reports for all projects based on site visits and project progress review.
• Attend monthly project review meetings with Consultant and Project Management representatives.
• Submit reports to management as required.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with Design Department and Procurement Department to manage timely submissions and material lead times.
• Track long lead materials from Al Tayer purchase department and subcontractors.
• Provide monthly progress updates to the respective Quantity Surveyor to support monthly progress and variation invoices.

Labour & Cost Monitoring

• Prepare labour monitoring reports for turnkey and joinery departments on budget versus actual for each project.
• Report deviations on labour cost.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years planning experience in fit out and joinery.
• Good working knowledge of Primavera or MS Project is essential.
• Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in construction; experience in fit out is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• MS Project or Primavera.
• Good knowledge of construction business gained through formal training or practical experience.
• Good knowledge of construction processes.
• Attention to detail and concern for time.
