Project Accountant (Defence)

Role Purpose

Serve as the finance partner for a portfolio within the Defence & Security division, owning project financials end-to-end while working closely with Project Managers to provide clear insight on financial performance, risks, and the impact of key business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Forecasting

• Lead the monthly forecasting cycle for Profit & Loss (P&L) and Balance Sheet, partnering closely with Project Managers during the Project Review Cycle (PRC).
• Build scenarios and cash-flow analyses, including UBR and UER, to support Chief Commercial Officer and Finance Business Services during project set-up and creation.
• Prepare ad hoc financial forecasts, models, and decision-support analysis as needed.

Performance Monitoring & Analysis

• Monitor project financial performance and take proactive action to maximize gross margin and cash flow.
• Contribute to business planning and investment risk evaluation.
• Support pricing and costing activities for new opportunities and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).

Cost & Accounting Management

• Own and continuously improve cost accounting, working closely with cost centre owners.
• Own reconciliations across accounting ledgers, ensuring accurate, up-to-date data that is readily accessible.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and transactions.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Support preparation of the annual budget, monthly management accounts, and statutory accounts for the company.
• Ensure IFRS is applied appropriately, including IFRS 15.
• Coordinate and support all internal and external audit requirements.

Additional Duties

• Take on other related duties as required to support the team and business.

Qualifications & Experience

• Must be a KSA national; sponsorship is not offered for this role.
• University degree in accounting or finance, or a recognised accounting qualification such as CMA, CA, CGA, or ACCA.
• 5 years of experience in financial analysis, including financial reporting and performance analysis.
• Experience reconciling intercompany balances and transactions.
• Practical experience applying IFRS, including IFRS 15.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical and technical accounting skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Hyperion Enterprise and Oracle systems (preferred).
• Knowledge of local Government Price Law (preferred).
