Production Trainer

Role Overview

Production Trainer at Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi. The role develops technical training courses and course materials that meet Etihad's corporate vision and Civil Aviation regulatory training requirements, delivering to the Technical Division covering Technicians, Engineers, Troubleshooters, Team Leaders and Shift Managers, including third-party vendors in outstation locations as per regulatory requirements.

Role Purpose

The Production Trainer develops and delivers theoretical, practical and refresher training courses on Technical Documents and Procedures, Technical Induction, Safety including Human Factors, and Aircraft Systems and Technologies. The role conducts practical assessments and mentors trainee Engineers and junior Technicians through classroom training and on-the-job training programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Training Design & Development

• Design, develop, plan and deliver theory, practical and refresher training courses to all levels of the Technical Division to meet departmental needs and comply with GCAA and international civil aviation regulations.
• Build training content to be delivered in person and online through Etihad learning platforms.
• Generate examination questions and review course content for continuous improvement.
• Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes and technological advancements related to aviation maintenance training, and incorporate relevant updates into training programmes.

Records & Compliance

• Maintain and update staff training records for Etihad Technical Operations Division.
• Produce, devise and implement relevant policies and procedures specific to this position and the development of the Technical training function in line with regulatory requirements and corporate demands.
• Create opportunities for growth and development for all employees.

Standards & Quality

• Perform maintenance certification duties as an authorised engineer, displaying proper procedural implementation and leading by example on professional and technical standards.
• Implement and provide advice on necessary changes to the EY TPM in relation to training to ensure quality standards, safety, compliance and best practices are maintained.

Assessment & Mentorship

• Carry out technical assessments and examination invigilation.
• Mentor junior technicians and trainees.
• Facilitate the department's technical training goals by ensuring all training competencies are completed in a timely and effective manner.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders as assigned by the Technical Training and Standards Manager, such as operations, quality assurance and safety, to integrate training initiatives into the curriculum architecture.

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid GCAA license and/or EASA Part 66/ICAO Type II and/or an appropriate Engineering degree.
• Recognised Apprenticeship in an Engineering discipline.
• Formal technical training in at least one Etihad aircraft type.
• Certified trainer or recognised training qualification.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in aviation maintenance.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in technical training, assessment and development.
• Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, including FAA, GCAA and EASA.

Skills & Competencies

• Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and other training technology platforms is a plus.
