Product Owner

Role Overview

Product Owner at Etihad Airways. This role is based at our Abu Dhabi hub and serves as a core team member of the agile scrum team, working with 1–2 scrum teams to drive product delivery and quality.

Role Purpose

Define and prioritize user stories in the team backlog, drive quality control, and validate that delivered stories meet defined acceptance criteria. Ensure scrum teams understand required features and functionality for each iteration and collaborate with Product Management to align delivery with product strategy and vision.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Roadmap

• Work with the Product Manager to contribute to product strategy, vision, and roadmap
• Demonstrate success in defining, delivering, and launching products

Backlog & Planning

• Review and prioritize the team backlog as part of Iteration Planning
• Coordinate dependencies with other Product Owners
• Accept the final Iteration Plan
• Continuously improve the backlog with the team
• Ensure all items are clearly described, estimated, and prioritized

Requirements & Acceptance

• Ensure the scrum team understands the required features and functionality to be delivered in each iteration
• Detail features and user stories with acceptance criteria and acceptance tests
• Validate that stories meet acceptance criteria, persistent acceptance tests, and Definition of Done
• Accept features and user stories on behalf of the product

Stakeholder & Team Engagement

• Work with the Product Manager to facilitate regular demos with the team
• Ensure the most critical aspects are shown to stakeholders
• Facilitate iteration retrospectives
• Drive discussions on improvements to increase velocity and quality
• Operate as an active team player with excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple teams in the organization

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years' experience in product development or as a Product Owner
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent (mandatory)
• Certification in Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner, or equivalent (desirable)
• Experience with Agile development methodologies including SAFe, Scrum, and Lean Portfolio Management
• Technical and business operations knowledge with proven ability to drive solutions
• Experience defining vision and strategy for a technical product
