Private Computer Science Teacher

Role Overview

Star seeks an experienced Private Computer Science Teacher to provide part-time, one-to-one academic support to a student in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Role Purpose

Deliver personalised and engaging Computer Science tuition aligned with the student's academic curriculum, with a strong focus on developing technical understanding, computational thinking, programming skills, and independent problem-solving. The role requires an educator who combines strong technical expertise with excellent teaching ability, professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively within a private family environment.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction and Curriculum Delivery

• Plan and deliver high-quality one-to-one Computer Science lessons.
• Teach programming, algorithms, computational thinking, data representation, computer systems, networks, and other relevant topics.
• Support the student's school curriculum and academic requirements.
• Combine theoretical concepts with practical application.

Student Support and Development

• Support homework, coursework, projects, and examination preparation.
• Develop the student's programming and practical problem-solving skills.
• Develop the student's confidence, curiosity, and independent learning skills.
• Identify gaps in knowledge and create targeted learning plans.
• Tailor lessons to the individual student's learning style and academic level.

Planning and Resources

• Prepare appropriate exercises, projects, revision activities, and extension work.
• Maintain a positive, structured, and encouraging learning environment.

Monitoring and Communication

• Monitor academic progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, attainment, and future objectives.
• Communicate professionally with the family regarding academic progress and priorities.
• Coordinate with the student's school or other educators where required.

Qualifications & Experience

• A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Education, or a related discipline.
• A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS, PGCE, or an equivalent credential.
• Several years of relevant teaching or private tutoring experience.
• Experience teaching school-age students in Computer Science.
• Experience teaching the British curriculum.
• GCSE/IGCSE and/or A-Level Computer Science experience, where relevant to the student's academic level.
• Strong practical programming experience.
• Positive and verifiable professional references.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Computer Science and programming.
• Confidence teaching relevant programming languages, such as Python, Java, or other curriculum-specific languages.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
• Patience and the ability to build a productive one-to-one relationship with the student.
• Professional maturity, discretion, and sound judgement.
• The confidence to work independently within a private household.

Additional Information

Employment Terms

• Position Type: Part-time private teaching position.
• Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
• Start Date: Immediately.
• Working Hours: Part-time, scheduled around the student's academic requirements.
• Compensation: Competitive and commensurate with experience.

Schedule and Flexibility

• Teaching will primarily take place around the student's school commitments.
• The Teacher should be prepared to adapt the teaching schedule according to the student's academic requirements and the family's schedule.
• Additional availability may occasionally be required during examination and revision periods, school holidays, academic transition periods, and periods requiring additional academic support.
• Exact working days, hours, and weekly arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.

Travel and Confidentiality

• Occasional domestic and international travel may be required to maintain continuity of the student's education.
• The Teacher must maintain complete confidentiality and discretion regarding the student, family, household, schedules, travel arrangements, and any other private information encountered during the appointment.
• The successful candidate must not disclose, publish, photograph, record, or share confidential information without prior permission.

Selection and Background Checks

• Verifiable professional references required.
• Background checks required as part of the appointment process.
• Only candidates with suitable experience and verifiable references will be considered.

Advantageous Experience

• Previous experience providing long-term one-to-one tuition or working with high-profile, VVIP, royal, diplomatic, or international families would be advantageous but is not essential.
