Role Purpose
Design, specify, and deliver communication systems including satellite, line of sight, fiber optic, phone, and public address systems. Manage transmission of data from supervisory control and data acquisition systems. Provide advanced technical leadership and engineering expertise across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Specification
- Design and specify communication systems across multiple technologies and platforms.
- Apply advanced engineering techniques independently to solve complex engineering problems.
- Make decisions on engineering methods and technical approaches.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
- Serve as primary consultant to associates and colleagues, with high reliance placed on scientific interpretations and advice.
- Represent the organization at conferences to resolve important technical questions.
Stakeholder & External Relations
- Negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations on technical matters.
Resource Management
- Own responsibility for a measurable asset, including assigned staff and budget.
Qualifications & Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience in telecommunications or communication systems design.
- Average experience of 10+ years in the field.
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced engineering analysis and problem-solving.
- Expertise in satellite, line of sight, fiber optic, phone, and public address system technologies.
- Supervisory control and data acquisition system knowledge.
- Technical mentoring and guidance.
- Conference presentation and external stakeholder negotiation.
