Role Overview

Principal HSE Engineer (Technical Safety / HSE Design) at McDermott in Dubai, supporting major offshore and onshore energy projects.

Role Purpose

Lead technical safety design activities across engineering projects, conducting hazard identification and risk assessments while developing safety specifications and design philosophies to ensure compliance with international HSE standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Safety Design

• Lead technical safety design activities across engineering projects.
• Conduct hazard identification studies, HAZOP, and risk assessments.
• Develop and review safety design philosophies and specifications.
• Provide technical safety input during FEED and detailed design phases.

Safety Systems & Compliance

• Support fire and gas system design and safety case development.
• Ensure compliance with international HSE design standards.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Liaise with clients and regulatory authorities on technical safety matters.

Mentoring & Development

• Mentor junior HSE engineers on technical safety practices.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Safety Engineering).
• 10 or more years of technical safety engineering experience in oil and gas EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of HAZOP, QRA, and fire and gas system design.
• Experience with major offshore or onshore energy projects.

Skills & Competencies

• Fluency in English.
