Role Purpose

Lead the end-to-end delivery of data center construction and commissioning projects by colocation providers, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality standards. Serve as the primary interface between Oracle and external partners, manage risk mitigation, oversee critical infrastructure systems installation, and drive continuous improvement in construction processes and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Project Management

• Lead the construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely milestone delivery across multiple projects.
• Create and manage project budgets, optimizing resource allocation to ensure cost-effective project execution.
• Manage and coordinate moderately complex tasks, monitoring timelines and deliverables to ensure timely completion and adherence to requirements.
• Efficiently delegate, monitor, and prioritize work across multiple projects, providing technical oversight and adjusting plans to address shifts in resources or timelines.

Documentation and Compliance

• Create, review, and maintain documentation, including design review, commissioning, and problem-solving papers, ensuring standards are upheld and materials are suitable for their intended purpose.
• Manage documents effectively to ensure proper organization and accessibility.

Quality Assurance and Integration

• Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
• Collaborate actively in the coordination and integration of tenant fit out projects, ensuring alignment between different phases of design, construction, and commissioning.
• Conduct detailed site walks to monitor schedule, coordination, and quality throughout the life of the project.
• Lead the startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects, ensuring that all systems are operational and meet design specifications.

Risk and Problem Management

• Evaluate the risk profiles associated with timely project delivery for multiple projects.
• Identify gaps in risk identification and mitigation and develop tailored solutions to address these gaps.
• Develop and implement mitigation strategies for major construction project risks to ensure project success.
• Identify and address moderately complex issues by analyzing a wide range of data and information to identify solutions in accordance with standard practices.
• Proactively escalate unresolved or critical issues with a thorough assessment and suggest potential solutions.
• Review, contribute to, and document problem solving strategies.

Stakeholder and Vendor Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact between Oracle and colocation providers, facilitating clear and effective communication and resolving routine issues independently.
• Develop and maintain key relationships to effectively support internal and external stakeholders, identifying opportunities for process improvements.
• Select, negotiate, and manage contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring contract compliance and performance.
• Collaborate across the organization to align on expectations and achieve shared objectives.
• Leverage understanding of business leaders, stakeholders, and customers to ensure proposed solutions meet their needs.
• Support inclusivity by actively seeking and listening to diverse perspectives, ensuring others feel heard and respected.

Design Coordination and Infrastructure Oversight

• Collaborate with design teams to ensure that construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications, addressing routine design issues independently.
• Oversee the installation of power, cooling, networking, and structured cabling systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Provide comprehensive colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement and identify opportunities for process enhancements.

Continuous Learning and Development

• Pursue learning opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in new areas and stay abreast of the latest industry trends and best practices.
• Proactively seek and leverage ongoing feedback and training to improve skills.
• Coach and mentor junior team members, fostering continuous learning and knowledge sharing within and across teams.
• Contribute to the talent development pipeline by participating in candidate interviews, assessing candidates, and providing hiring recommendations.

Continuous Improvement

• Develop ideas, recommend updates, and collaborate on the implementation of process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, protocols, and workflows across teams.
• Evaluate the impact on key stakeholders.
• Solicit feedback from others on ideas for alternative approaches and methods for continued improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

• Recent involvement supporting colocation providers and general contractor/MEP contractors across construction, fit-out, and commissioning projects within mission-critical environments.
• Strong technical understanding of data center MEP critical infrastructure systems, including electrical distribution, UPS, generators, cooling systems, BMS/EPMS, and integrated commissioning activities.
