Power Gen Mechanic

Role Overview

Power Gen Mechanic at Amentum. This role operates, maintains, tests, repairs, services and stores electrical generating equipment, water distribution systems, flood lights, air compressors and aircraft arresting systems at a U.S. Air Force installation.

Role Purpose

Operate and maintain electrical power generation and support systems to ensure mission readiness and compliance with Air Force Performance Work Statement requirements and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Maintenance

• Operate, maintain, test, repair, service and store electrical generating equipment, water distribution systems, flood lights, air compressors and aircraft arresting systems.
• Perform required inspections and scheduled maintenance on all assigned equipment.
• Perform servicing and maintenance of in-use assets as required.
• Assist in the erection, construction and operation of Bare Base power generation and associated equipment to support real world exercises and contingencies.
• Operate material handling equipment as required.

Diagnosis & Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot repair situations and malfunctions through inspection, observation of operation and use of test equipment.
• Analyze malfunctions by interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints and maintenance malfunction data related to assigned equipment.
• Examine electrical equipment and systems for damages, corrosion and operation.
• Connect and utilize test equipment and meters such as voltmeters, ammeters, megohmmeters and oscilloscopes.
• Test required gauges and meters to assure accuracy and reliability.

Technical Work

• Erect, repair and service electrical power distribution systems and equipment.
• Bench check repairable components, subassemblies and solid-state components using test equipment, load bands and other equipment as required by technical data.
• Use common hand tools, tubing and conduit benders, hand and motor operated conduit threading machines, soldering irons and grounding systems.
• Repair, inspect, fabricate, clean, operate, maintain, corrosion control, reconstitute and prepare BEAR assets/equipment air/sea/road haul shipments in accordance with Maintenance Action Sheets, Technical Orders, Manuals, Checklists, Regulations and Unit Type Code (UTC) Configuration listings.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).
• Conform to USAF/Amentum safety, hazardous material and quality standards.
• Perform maintenance in accordance with Maintenance Action Sheets, Air Force Technical Orders and Amentum directives.
• Inspect Hazardous Materials within the assigned work center and coordinate with the appropriate office for the disposal of HAZMAT when required.
• Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.
• Ensure all tools, personal protective equipment and clothing issued remain safe, secure and serviceable, reporting any deficiencies.

Documentation & Administration

• Prepare and complete documentation including Work Orders, USAF Supply and Amentum forms and update Maximo.

Additional Duties

• Perform Temporary Duty (TDY) in the Area of Operations as required by USAF/Amentum tasking.
• Assist in other departments when directed or requested to accomplish a specific task or project.
• Perform other tasks and duties as directed by Amentum/USAF tasking.
• Work in maintenance shop or warehouse environment and may be required to work outdoors for extended periods.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be experienced on high/low voltage generators and load testing or equivalent automobile mechanical experience.
• Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license.

Skills & Competencies

• Organizational skills.
• Ability to understand, speak, read and write English at a beginner level.
• Ability to read and understand technical data, plans/blueprints and publications pertaining to BOB assets or similar Department of Defense Agencies Contingency Systems preferred.
• Maximo experience preferred but not required.
• Hands-on experience with BOB assets or similar Department of Defense Agencies Contingency Systems preferred but not required.

Additional Information

• Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting, pushing and pulling minimum of 50 lbs. and performing extensive work handling and lifting equipment.
• May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
