Role Overview

Postal Finance Clerk at Cherokee Federal supporting daily postal finance operations at Ali Al Salem Air Base (ASAB), Kuwait; Al Dhafra Air Base (ADAB), United Arab Emirates; Muwaffaq Salti Air Base (MSAB), Jordan; and optionally at Al Udeid Air Base (AUAB), Qatar.

Role Purpose

This role maintains accurate postal financial operations and records across multiple overseas military installations. The clerk processes and reconciles postal transactions, safeguards accountable funds and stock, prepares required reports, and ensures compliance with USPS policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Transaction Processing

  • Process postal retail and financial transactions accurately using USPS POS/RSS or an equivalent postal financial system.
  • Reconcile daily financial activity, including cash, money orders, stamps, accountable paper, retail transactions, and other postal revenue.

Reporting and Record Maintenance

  • Prepare, review, and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain financial records in accordance with USPS requirements, contract requirements, and established internal controls.

Compliance and Problem Resolution

  • Identify, research, and resolve discrepancies, shortages, overages, and transaction errors in a timely manner.
  • Follow all applicable security, privacy, safety, and ethical standards while handling postal and financial information.

Asset Safeguarding

  • Safeguard cash, stamps, money orders, accountable items, and other postal assets.

Audit and Inspection Support

  • Support audits, inspections, inventory counts, and financial reviews by providing accurate records and documentation.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with postal personnel, site leadership, and customers to resolve finance-related issues.

Operations Support

  • Assist with administrative tasks related to postal operations, including filing, data entry, reporting, and records retention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of postal finance operations at ASAB, ADAB, Optional AUAB, and MSAB.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency; documentation required.
  • Minimum two years of experience using USPS POS/RSS or an equivalent postal financial system.
  • Demonstrated experience processing, balancing, reconciling, and reporting financial transactions.
  • Working knowledge of postal financial procedures, accountable property controls, and cash-handling practices.
  • Ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies with accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Prior experience supporting USPS operations in an overseas, remote, military, or contingency environment.
  • Experience supporting postal operations at ASAB, ADAB, AUAB, MSAB, or similar locations.
  • Experience with USPS financial reporting, audits, inspections, and accountable paper inventory.
  • Knowledge of USPS retail systems, postal regulations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience working with government contracts or Department of Defense customers.
  • Associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Ability to meet all applicable access, security, background screening, and deployment requirements for the assigned work location.

Additional Information

  • Full-time position with medical, dental, vision, 401K and other possible benefits; benefits subject to change with or without notice.
  • Estimated starting salary range TBD; pay commensurate with experience. Salary range will be posted upon contract award and funding determination.
  • Government contract requires U.S. citizenship or legal permanent residency documentation.
  • Candidates must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal and all applicable access, security, and background screening requirements.
  • Many positions require access to government buildings or military installations.
