PMC HSE Specialist

Role Overview

PMC HSE Specialist at Wood PLC, located in different areas across Saudi Arabia.

Role Purpose

Provide strategic health, safety, and environment leadership and advisory support across projects and business units, ensuring compliance with HSE requirements, developing and implementing HSE plans and programs, and driving continuous improvement in HSE performance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Guidance & Leadership

• Provide strategic advice and guidance to Managers on all HSE-related matters.
• Roll out Group HSE annual objectives and initiatives and develop company HSE objectives.
• Provide support to Business Unit/Contract/Project Managers and HSE Advisors in the development and roll-out of Group HSE objectives and other initiatives.
• Provide cross-Business Unit support as required.
• Monitor best-practice and develop leading-edge HSE initiatives as appropriate to the business being supported.

Project & Risk Management

• Develop and prepare HSE Plans for greenfield (grassroots) projects.
• Lead site risk assessment studies and identify project-related HSE risks and mitigation measures.
• Develop and implement Process Safety Management (PSM) Programs for projects.

Incident & Performance Management

• Provide support to senior Managers in incident and accident investigations through the use of an appropriate investigation process (e.g., Helix or Taproot).
• Undertake lagging indicator reviews of incident/accident trends and provide timely advice to senior Managers and Corporate Management on actions and initiatives.
• Provide support to senior Managers and HSE Advisors in the timely reporting of both leading and lagging HSE Indicators.

Site Oversight & Training

• Complete Management Support Visits to installations and work-sites.
• Carry out HSE Inductions for new starters.
• Provide mentorship and training for graduate/new recruits into the HSE team as appropriate.
• Develop HSE presentational material to support inductions and Group initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
• Lead/Senior HSE advisor experience with project/contract experience in Oil & Gas or other industry.
• Proven experience in the oil & gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure industries.
• Demonstrated Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) experience on large-scale projects.
• Experience in developing and preparing HSE Plans for greenfield (grassroots) projects.
• Experience leading site risk assessment studies and identifying project-related HSE risks and mitigation measures.
• Capable of developing and implementing Process Safety Management (PSM) Programs for projects.
• Must hold an internationally recognized professional safety certification, such as: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH), or an equivalent internationally recognized safety certification.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, hazard identification, risk assessment, incident prevention, and regulatory compliance.
• Thorough understanding of international HSE standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Proven ability to coordinate and collaborate with other IK HSE organizations and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with HSE requirements.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and reporting skills.
