PMC Constructability Specialist - DCU & MHC (3 months) with Wood PLC, based in Abu Dhabi.

Role Purpose

The PMC Constructability Specialist is responsible for ensuring that engineering designs are optimized for efficient, safe, and cost-effective construction and installation. The role bridges engineering and construction by embedding constructability principles early in the design phase and throughout project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Constructability Planning & Strategy

• Develop and implement the Constructability Program in line with ADNOC project requirements.
• Prepare the Constructability Execution Plan (CEP) and ensure integration with overall project execution strategy.
• Define constructability objectives, procedures, and KPIs.

Design Review & Optimization

• Review FEED and detailed engineering deliverables to ensure ease of construction and installation.
• Identify modularization and prefabrication opportunities.
• Assess accessibility for construction and maintenance.
• Provide early input to eliminate design inefficiencies and reduce rework.
• Ensure alignment with ADNOC standards, specifications, and HSE requirements.

Interface & Coordination

• Coordinate closely with engineering disciplines (civil, structural, piping, mechanical, E&I).
• Partner with EPC contractor construction teams.
• Conduct constructability workshops and design reviews with stakeholders.
• Ensure lessons learned from previous ADNOC projects are incorporated.

Construction Methodology Review

• Evaluate and approve construction methodologies, including heavy lifting plans, module installation strategies, and site logistics and sequencing.
• Ensure methods are safe, practical, and optimized for site conditions.

Modularization & Prefabrication

• Identify opportunities for offsite fabrication and modular construction.
• Assess benefits in terms of schedule reduction, cost savings, and risk mitigation.

Risk Management

• Identify constructability-related risks and constraints early.
• Provide mitigation strategies for congested layouts, interface clashes, and limited access or lifting constraints.
• Support project risk workshops and HAZID/HAZOP reviews.

Site Support & Execution

• Provide ongoing support during construction phase.
• Conduct site visits to ensure compliance with constructability recommendations.
• Assist in resolution of field issues and troubleshooting construction challenges.

Lessons Learned & Continuous Improvement

• Capture and document lessons learned.
• Contribute to ADNOC knowledge base and best practices.
• Recommend improvements for future projects.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or equivalent).

Experience

• Minimum 15 years of experience in refinery projects.
• At least 5+ years in constructability or construction engineering roles.
• Strong experience in PMC roles on ADNOC or similar Middle East projects.
• Experience in EPC/EPCM project execution.

Certifications

• Professional certifications are an advantage.

Reporting & Interfaces

Reports to PMC Engineering Manager / Project Manager.

• Based in Abu Dhabi with frequent site visits (onshore/offshore depending on project).
• May involve rotation to site locations.
