Role Overview

PMC Civil Engineering Specialist at Wood PLC, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The position supports the ADNOC Offshore project as part of the Oil, Gas & New Energies business and will be located at the client office in Abu Dhabi.

Role Purpose

Provide technical expertise and oversight in Civil and Structural Engineering design for the ADNOC Offshore project. Ensure compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards, coordinate with EPC Contractors and engineering consultants, and resolve technical issues across the Integrated Project Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Compliance

• Provide technical expertise in all Civil and Structural design.
• Ensure design and engineering compliance with relevant codes and ADNOC standards.
• Ensure facilities are designed in accordance with the latest corporate guidelines with respect to environment and health aspects.

Design Coordination & Oversight

• Coordinate, monitor, and handle Civil and Structural Engineering design with EPC Contractor as per project expectation and within the agreed timeframe.
• Perform regular and timely technical reviews of Civil and Structural Engineering deliverables developed by engineering consultants and contractors, ensuring design quality in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
• Review and approve Engineering Consultant's and EPC Contractor's work and ensure compliance with ADNOC project specifications, relevant codes and standards, and best industry practices.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of Engineering Consultant's and EPC Contractor's Civil and Structural Engineering design activities.
• Ensure integration of overall Civil and Structural Engineering and coordination within IPMT Mechanical Civil and Structural Engineering Team.

Design Optimization & Analysis

• Coordinate the required engineering participation in the development and analysis of various design options and business models, and contribute input and expertise in design optimization and validation.
• Participate in teams for equipment sizing and equipment selection considering optimization and standardization.
• Ensure full utilization of the existing facilities while optimizing the facilities required for new projects.

Reviews & Technical Workshops

• Participate in layout reviews, model reviews, design reviews, and technical workshops.
• Coordinate technical reviews and bid evaluation, and performance evaluation.

Cross-Discipline Collaboration

• Work with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC Contractor, ADNOC Engineering, Operation, and Site Interface to resolve technical issues and ensure quality Discipline Engineering execution and integrity.
• Provide technical assistance and coordination with other discipline engineers.

Installation & Commissioning

• Provide technical assistance during installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

• Report to ADNOC Discipline Team Leader and Engineering Manager, and provide support to Project Managers and Engineers within the Project Management Team organization.
• Interface with Managers, Team Leaders, and Engineers in Company's Technical Departments, Business Units, Operations Units, and Logistics Department.
• Interface regularly with Contractor's Engineering and Project Management team and discipline engineers as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in oil and gas industry.
• Experience and detailed knowledge of relevant international codes and standards.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent technical team and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software.
• Ability to make independent decisions in the planning, organizing, and coordinating to develop solutions to complex problems.
