PMC Area Construction Manager

Role Overview

PMC Area Construction Manager for the Taziz Methanol Project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, reporting to Wood PLC's Oil, Gas & New Energies business Project Engineering team.

Role Purpose

To directly manage and be accountable for the planning and execution of underground civil works, fabrication, transportation, installation, mechanical completion, and brownfield modifications of project components. Lead construction efforts to ensure the project is executed in accordance with ADNOC and project procedures and Shareholder expectations, while directly managing Construction Leaders for on-island construction and onshore precast operations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead the Project Construction team to support objectives and strategies.
• Directly manage Construction Leaders for on-island construction and onshore precast.
• Establish a construction organization to implement Project execution plans and procedures and coordinate resourcing of construction team positions.
• Clearly communicate direct reports' short-term and long-term goals that support project objectives.
• Encourage and recognize outstanding performance and ensure that staff are appraised regularly and developed accordingly.
• Take a leadership role in mentoring and training UAE Nationals in construction management.

Safety & Compliance

• Champion safety in all construction aspects of the Project and promote the safety objective that "Nobody gets Hurt".
• Ensure that the Contractor and Subcontractors are compliant with project safety expectations, policies and procedures.
• Steward the development of an Integrated Safety Plan for Construction, including SIMOPS for all island and brownfield work.
• Assist in the review and implementation of all Contractor safety plans.

Construction Planning & Execution

• Manage the Construction teams responsible for the planning, development and operations to ensure construction execution.
• Manage the Contractor's construction planning and execution efforts to ensure compliance with Project objectives, strategies, obligations and requirements.
• Provide construction and execution strategy support to the Project Team through construction oversight and assistance.
• Ensure that the detailed design deliverables support constructability.
• Lead construction planning teams to identify vulnerabilities and opportunities.
• Sponsor construction-related readiness reviews, constructability workshops and CERs.

Stakeholder & Interface Management

• Steward interfaces and interactions between the Contractor and other UZ Projects, Production Operations, and Drilling.
• Manage the interface with ADNOC to execute brownfield works in order to minimize disruption in ongoing production operations.

Reporting & Performance

• Report on construction progress, performance, initiatives and issues to the Project Team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree is essential.
• Minimum of 20 years of experience on large oil and gas projects.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work with people across a diversity of cultures.
