Role Overview

Piping Materials / Metallurgy SME at Wood PLC. The role serves as the Technical Authority across a portfolio of energy, oil & gas, mining, industrial and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia.

Role Purpose

Provide enterprise expertise in piping materials selection and metallurgy throughout the project lifecycle, including proposals, concept studies, FEED, detailed engineering, construction support and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Authority & Leadership

• Act as the Technical Authority across multiple projects.
• Serve as the highest level of technical authority within the discipline.
• Lead technical reviews during Concept, FEED and Detailed Design phases.
• Perform independent design assurance and peer reviews.
• Resolve complex engineering challenges and provide specialist guidance.
• Ensure engineering excellence and strengthen technical governance.

Business & Stakeholder Management

• Support proposals, client workshops and business development activities.
• Support the delivery of safe, innovative and high-quality engineering solutions.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders across the region.

Capability & Standards

• Mentor engineering teams and develop technical capability.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards and best practices.
• Contribute to technical assurance.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, Mining or Industrial projects.
• Proven experience as a Technical Authority, Chief Engineer, Principal Consultant, Engineering Fellow or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer status is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Corrosion, NACE/AMPP, sour service, CRA, welding, HPHT expertise.
• Knowledge of ASME, ASTM and NACE/AMPP standards.
• Proven track record of solving complex engineering challenges.
• Ability to influence clients and drive technical excellence.
