Role Overview
Piping Fabrication Manager at Wood PLC, based in the Fabrication Shop in the UAE. This role oversees all piping fabrication activities for the ADNOC Gas EPCM project, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution against project specifications, ADNOC standards, and international codes.

Role Purpose
The Piping Fabrication Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all piping fabrication activities across the ADNOC Gas EPCM project. The role ensures that fabrication is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications, ADNOC standards, and international codes. The position plays a critical role in coordinating between engineering, procurement, and construction teams to deliver fabricated piping systems in line with project schedule, quality, and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Fabrication Leadership & Execution
- Lead and manage all piping fabrication activities, including shop fabrication and modular assembly, ensuring alignment with EPCM project execution strategy.
- Oversee fabrication yard operations, including contractor performance, productivity, and resource planning.
- Drive fabrication efficiency, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication yards.
Standards, Codes & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to ADNOC Gas standards, project specifications, and applicable international codes (ASME, ASTM, API, etc.).
- Ensure implementation of robust QA/QC processes, including material traceability, welding procedures (WPS/PQR), NDT requirements, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and promote a strong safety culture across all fabrication activities.
Engineering & Technical Coordination
- Interface closely with Engineering to ensure fabrication drawings (isometrics, spool drawings) are accurate, complete, and issued in line with fabrication priorities.
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning teams by ensuring fabrication deliverables meet system completion requirements.
Procurement & Supply Chain Interface
- Coordinate with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely availability of piping materials, fittings, valves, and special items.
Schedule & Risk Management
- Monitor fabrication progress against schedule and proactively identify and mitigate risks or delays.
Construction & Project Handover
- Manage interfaces with Construction, ensuring smooth handover of fabricated spools/modules for site installation.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Provide regular reporting to Project Management on fabrication progress, risks, and performance metrics.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 20 years of experience in oil & gas projects, with at least 8–10 years in a senior piping fabrication management role.
- Proven experience on large-scale EPC or EPCM projects, preferably with ADNOC Gas or similar Middle East operators.
- Extensive experience managing fabrication yards and subcontractors on multi-billion-dollar projects.
- Familiarity with ADNOC standards, specifications, and working procedures is highly preferred.
- Experience in modularization and offshore/onshore fabrication is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of piping fabrication processes, welding, materials management, and quality control requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex interfaces between engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of digital fabrication tracking systems and completions systems is desirable.
