Role Overview
Physiotherapist - Sports Medicine at NMC Healthcare, Dubai, U.A.E.
Role Purpose
Deliver physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation services to patients with physical injuries, joint and spinal problems, and post-surgical conditions, while maintaining clinical standards, safety protocols, and continuous professional development within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment and Treatment
- Identify physical problems through patient consultation and assessment.
- Develop and review individualized treatment programs.
- Assist patients with joint and spinal problems, especially following surgery.
- Support patient rehabilitation following accidents, injury, and strokes.
- Ensure physiotherapy treatments are based on sound evidence of benefit.
Documentation and Reporting
- Write patient case notes and reports.
- Collect patient statistics.
- Ensure all adverse clinical events are recorded and reported.
Patient Education and Communication
- Educate and advise patients and carers on how to prevent and improve conditions.
- Effectively communicate with staff members, health professionals, clients, and family regarding provision of physiotherapy services.
Team Collaboration and Education
- Work as a professional member of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team and actively participate in team meetings.
- Contribute to and participate in education programs for residents, relatives, and staff.
- Participate in continuing education and courses updating physiotherapy techniques and information.
Operations and Resource Management
- Ensure physiotherapy equipment is adequately maintained.
- Liaise with the Head of Department for ordering supplies and equipment.
- Maintain a safe work environment and assist in implementing safe systems of work.
- Identify and report workplace hazards.
Quality and Compliance
- Participate in NMCSH Quality Management System and continuous improvement activities, including auditing, surveys, and needs analysis.
- Follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations, and Joint Commission International norms while treating, managing, and discharging professional duties.
- Undertake duties in accordance with the philosophy, business practices, and policies of NMCSH-Dubai and the standards and ethics of the Physiotherapy profession.
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as directed by the Head of Department or the Medical Director.
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate from an approved college or university in physiotherapy.
- Current license in country of origin with DHA license to practice in Dubai, U.A.E.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in physical medicine practice.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent command of oral and written English.
- Arabic language advantageous but not essential.
- Sound computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work in a cordial manner in group practice within a hospital setting and as a team member.
- Knowledge of the range and type of services available for aged and disabled persons.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to review procedures and implement new models of service delivery to satisfy client and organizational requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes and ability to consult with staff regarding continuous improvement.
