Role Overview
Physiotherapist at NMC Healthcare in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Role Purpose
Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation services to patients within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, in accordance with international guidelines, DHA regulations, and Joint Commission International norms.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
- Work with patients to identify physical problems.
- Develop and review treatment programs.
- Assist patients with joint and spinal problems, especially following surgery.
- Help patients' rehabilitation following accidents, injury, and strokes.
- Ensure physiotherapy treatments are based on sound evidence of benefit.
Documentation & Reporting
- Write patient case notes and reports.
- Collect patient statistics.
- Ensure all adverse clinical events are recorded and reported.
Patient Education & Communication
- Educate and advise patients and their carers about how to prevent and improve conditions.
- Effectively communicate with staff members, health professionals, clients, and family regarding provision of physiotherapy services.
Team & Professional Development
- Work as a professional member of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team and actively participate in team meetings.
- Contribute to and participate in education programs for residents, relatives, and staff.
- Participate in continuing education and courses updating physiotherapy techniques and information.
Equipment & Resources
- Ensure physiotherapy equipment is adequately maintained.
- Liaise with the Head of Department for ordering of supplies and equipment.
Quality & Safety
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Assist in the ongoing maintenance of a safe workplace through involvement in the implementation of safe systems of work.
- Identify and report hazards in the workplace.
- Participate in NMCSH Quality Management System and commitment to processes of continuous improvement activities, including auditing, surveys, and needs analysis.
Compliance & Governance
- Undertake duties in accordance with the philosophy, business practices, and policies of NMCSH-Dubai.
- Practice within the standards and ethics of the physiotherapy profession.
- Follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations, and Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients and while discharging professional duties.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Head of Department or the Medical Director.
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate from an approved college or university in physiotherapy.
- Current license in country of origin with DHA license to practice in Dubai, UAE.
- Minimum two years of experience in physical medicine practice.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent command of oral and written English.
- Arabic language advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to work in cordial conditions in group practice in a hospital setting and as a member of a team.
- Knowledge of the range and type of services available for aged and disabled persons.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to review procedures and implement new models of service delivery to satisfy client and organizational requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes and ability to consult with staff regarding continuous improvement.
- Sound computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
