Role Overview

Physiotherapist at NMC Healthcare, located in Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates.

Role Purpose

Deliver evidence-based physiotherapy care to patients with physical problems, joint and spinal conditions, and rehabilitation needs following surgery, injury, or stroke, while supervising team members and maintaining compliance with organizational quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Practice & Patient Care

• Assess patients to identify physical problems.
• Develop and review treatment programmes.
• Assist patients with joint and spinal problems, especially following surgery.
• Support patients' rehabilitation following accidents, injury, and strokes.
• Educate and advise patients and their carers about how to prevent and improve conditions.
• Ensure physiotherapy treatments are based on sound evidence of benefit.

Team & Leadership

• Supervise physiotherapy assistants.
• Supervise and instruct physiotherapy aides.
• Participate actively as a professional member of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team and in team meetings.
• Communicate effectively with staff members, health professionals, clients, and family regarding provision of physiotherapy services.

Documentation & Reporting

• Write patient case notes and reports.
• Collect patient statistics.
• Ensure all adverse clinical events are recorded and reported.

Equipment & Resources

• Ensure physiotherapy equipment is adequately maintained.
• Liaise with the Head of Department for ordering of supplies and equipment.

Education & Professional Development

• Contribute to and participate in education programs for residents, relatives, and staff.
• Participate in continuing education and courses updating physiotherapy techniques and information.

Workplace Safety & Quality

• Maintain a safe work environment.
• Assist in ongoing maintenance of a safe workplace through involvement in implementation of safe systems of work.
• Identify and report hazards in the workplace.
• Participate in Quality Management System and commitment to continuous improvement activities, including auditing, surveys, and needs analysis.

General Duties

• Undertake duties in accordance with the philosophy, business practices, and policies of NMCSH-Al-Ain, and practice within the standards and ethics of the physiotherapy profession.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Head of Department or the Medical Director.

Qualifications & Experience

• Graduate from an approved College or University in Physiotherapy.
• Current license to practice in country of origin.
• DOH license to practice in Emirate of Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates.
• Minimum 2 years experience of practice in Physical Medicine.

Skills & Competencies

• Excellent command of oral and written English.
• Arabic language advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work in group practice in a hospital setting and as a member of a team.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of the range and type of services available for aged and disabled persons.
• Ability to review procedures and implement new models of service delivery to satisfy client and organizational requirements.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes and ability to consult with staff regarding continuous improvement.
• Sound computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
