Role Overview
Pharmacist position based in Sharjah with NMC Healthcare. The role encompasses overall management of the pharmacy from both Ministry of Health (MOH) and organizational perspectives, ensuring the highest level of patient and customer service alongside administrative work, strictly within the scope of pharmacy practice.
Role Purpose
Deliver comprehensive pharmacy management and clinical services, maintaining MOH compliance and regulatory standards while ensuring optimal patient care, staff development, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Patient & Customer Service
- Welcome and greet patients and customers as they enter the pharmacy.
- Ensure every patient who walks in has been attended to and that nobody is left unattended or unsatisfied.
- Handle phone calls in the pharmacy and provide information to address customer queries.
Dispensing & Clinical Operations
- Perform dispensing accurately and in an orderly manner, ensuring correct dosage and quantity as prescribed by the physician.
- Provide clear instructions to patients with medicines in packaging that maintains potency.
- Locate correct medicines from the rack as per prescription.
- Maintain inventory and ensure proper handling of all medicines and general products on the rack.
- Ensure that under no circumstances medicines are left lying on the pharmacy floor; strict action will be taken against any pharmacy violating this procedure.
Staff Management & Development
- Assign and delegate work closely with pharmacy staff.
- Facilitate, induct, train and develop staff on their job responsibilities.
- Evaluate staff performance periodically.
- Encourage effective teamwork across the pharmacy.
Compliance & Quality
- Implement and improve Quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the pharmacy as per MOH guidelines.
- Work closely with the Quality Manager on SOP development and improvement.
- Ensure the pharmacy is MOH compliant.
- Maintain and regularly update all documentation kept in the pharmacy.
- Participate in monthly review meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Hold an appropriate license to work as a Pharmacist in the relevant regulatory health authority with all qualifications and experience mandated by that authority.
- Manage own professional re-licensure.
- Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card.
Skills & Competencies
- Communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written).
- Communicate effectively in Arabic (desirable).
- Demonstrate ability to work as part of an inter-professional team (desirable).
- Display organizational and administrative skills, including competence with electronic medical record platforms for clinical documentation (desirable).
Additional Information
- Be willing to work across departments when necessary.
