Role Overview
Painting and Insulation Supervisor at Samsung E&A. This role supervises painting, insulation, and fireproofing operations on construction projects in the plant industry, managing subcontractors and direct workers while ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Role Purpose
To supervise, manage and support subcontractors in executing painting, insulation and fireproofing construction activities safely and effectively in accordance with project specifications, international standards, and regulatory requirements. The supervisor ensures quality control, coordinates with multiple departments and stakeholders, and maintains HSE compliance throughout all coating and insulation operations.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
- Prepare construction schedule as per project Management of Change.
- Prepare construction Method Statements based on specification and requirements.
- Ensure necessary construction drawings and materials are available in advance of construction implementation.
- Develop training plans with employees to ensure they have necessary skills to carry out their jobs.
Quality Assurance & Inspection
- Review and assess Contractor/Subcontractor QA/QC Plans and Procedures including Test/Inspection results.
- Witness and monitor Contractor/Subcontractor site surveillance QA/QC activities.
- Provide technical support to company and contractors QC personnel as required.
- Assure quality of work during work execution and attend progress coordination meetings.
- Assess the integrity of coatings, insulation and other applied materials, reporting atmospheric corrosion effects and corrosion damages to coatings applied to internals of vessels.
- Conduct corrosion assessment and reporting to the asset integrity team leader.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all painting activities are conducted according to international and local HSE regulations.
- Promote safety awareness and safe performance among Production group, including Contractor personnel.
- Supervise and ensure safe conditions at construction site in cooperation with safety department.
- Oversee the development of the Blasting, Painting and Insulation Systems integrating Quality, Occupational Health/Safety and Environmental requirements.
Operations & Supervision
- Supervise, manage and support subcontractors to proceed with construction effectively under safe conditions.
- Supervise paint functions by planning, scheduling, assigning and monitoring the work of assigned staff at paint shop.
- Control work relationship with subcontractor and/or direct workers crews.
- Supervise hot, cold (cryogenic) and acoustic insulation for pipes, reactors, boiler, hot oil heater and other related equipment.
- Supervise painting/coating and fireproofing application on pipe and structure.
- Conduct daily walk around site and identify any major findings not in accordance with Project Specifications and Standards.
- Manage construction progress by checking daily, weekly and monthly work done quantities.
Coordination & Documentation
- Coordinate timely flow of engineering documents, certificates, test reports and inspection reports between concerned departments and companies.
- Liaise with other Department Heads, Customers and Third Parties on Coating & Insulation matters.
- Coordinate with other disciplines or departments to resolve interface issues.
- Prepare punch list items, ensuring they are resolved according to the turn over system.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly construction reports.
- Record Best Practice and Lessons Learned.
Additional Tasks
- Perform other tasks as instructed by the Construction Manager within the competency and scope of work.
Qualifications & Experience
- Construction experience in an oil/gas/petrochemical or power plants as supervisor.
- Engineering & Construction Company working experience in Middle East is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Comprehensive knowledge on construction management and engineering standards.
- Interpretation of engineering and construction drawings (P&ID, ISO, GAD, insulation typical).
- Computer application ability (MS Office).
- Knowledge of FMCS & TPMS operation.
- Expertise in Insulation.
- Expertise in Painting.
- Expertise in Fireproofing & Scaffolding.
- Expertise in Color coding and identification.
- Expertise in Refractory.
