Operator - Forklift

Role Overview

Operator - Forklift at Al Ghurair. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts in a warehouse and production environment.

Role Purpose

To operate forklifts safely and efficiently while loading, unloading, and transporting materials throughout the warehouse and to production workstations in accordance with company policies, safety regulations, and inventory procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Material Movement

• Operate forklifts safely in accordance with company policies and safety regulations.
• Load and unload materials from trucks, containers, and storage locations.
• Transport raw materials, finished goods, and pallets to designated areas.
• Transport raw materials to production workstations as per request.
• Stack and arrange materials properly to maximize storage space and prevent damage.
• Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates as per allotted location only.
• Verify material quantities and product labels before moving goods.
• Ensure materials are handled carefully to avoid product damage.
• Perform daily pre-operation inspections of the forklift (brakes, tires, forks, lights, horn, battery/fuel, hydraulics, etc.).
• Maintain cleanliness of the forklift and work area.

Safety & Compliance

• Conduct pre-shift safety checks before operating the forklift.
• Never exceed the forklift's rated load capacity.
• Ensure loads are stable and securely positioned before transport.
• Sound the horn at blind corners and pedestrian crossings.
• Keep forks lowered while traveling without a load.
• Avoid carrying passengers unless the equipment is designed for it.
• Park the forklift safely with forks lowered, parking brake engaged, and power switched off.
• Report equipment defects, accidents, safety hazards, near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately.
• Follow warehouse traffic rules, speed limits, and designated routes.
• Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Follow FIFO/FEFO procedures where applicable.

Administration & Coordination

• Assist with receiving and dispatch activities.
• Support inventory counts and stock movement as required.
• Complete forklift operation logs and material movement records accurately.
• Coordinate with warehouse supervisors and other departments for efficient material movement.

Equipment Maintenance

• Manage forklift maintenance by timely servicing as per the forklift manual.

Qualifications & Experience

• Valid UAE forklift driving license is required.
• Same field experience is additional strength.

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of warehouse safety practices.
• Ability to read labels, delivery documents, and inventory records.
• Good coordination, attention to detail, and safe driving skills.
• Basic communication and teamwork abilities.
• Physical fitness to work in warehouse and outdoor environments.
• Able to work independently and ready to work in the production station if required.
