Onshore Pipeline Principal - SME

Role Overview

Wood PLC is seeking an Onshore Pipeline Principal - SME to serve as the Technical Authority across a portfolio of energy, oil & gas, mining, industrial and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia.

Role Purpose

Lead technical delivery of cross-country pipeline engineering and act as the highest level of technical authority within the discipline, providing specialist expertise, ensuring engineering excellence, strengthening technical governance and supporting the delivery of safe, innovative and high-quality engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Act as the Technical Authority across multiple projects.
• Lead technical reviews during Concept, FEED and Detailed Design phases.
• Perform independent design assurance and peer reviews.
• Resolve complex engineering challenges and provide specialist guidance.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, including proposals, concept studies, FEED, detailed engineering, construction support and commissioning.

Engineering Standards & Governance

• Develop and maintain engineering standards and best practices.
• Establish and maintain technical standards across the portfolio.
• Strengthen technical governance and support engineering excellence.

Stakeholder & Team Development

• Mentor engineers and develop technical capability.
• Mentor engineering teams across the region.
• Support proposals, client workshops and business development activities.
• Build trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders across the region.

Technical Assurance

• Contribute to technical assurance activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in the relevant Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, Mining or Industrial projects.
• Proven experience as a Technical Authority, Chief Engineer, Principal Consultant, Engineering Fellow or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer status is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Hydraulics, pipeline integrity, crossings, ASME B31.4/B31.8, constructability.
• Knowledge of ASME and API standards.
• Recognized industry expert with a proven track record of solving complex engineering challenges.
• Ability to influence clients and drive technical excellence across major international projects.
