Role Overview
Obs and Gyn Hospitalist at NMC Healthcare, Dubai, UAE. Delivers obstetric and gynecologic healthcare to inpatients entitled to such care.
Role Purpose
Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic inpatient care, including assessment, clinical decision-making, emergency coverage, and specialist consultation coordination, while maintaining medical records and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment and Care
- Conduct assessment and re-assessment for all patients in the LDRP.
- Examine inpatients in Obstetrics and Gynecology wards upon request, rendering immediate judgment and treatment as necessary.
- Provide health counseling to patients as needed.
Specialist Coordination and Referral
- Determine which cases constitute required specialist treatment.
- Facilitate quick clinical decisions and select the appropriate specialist for necessary additional guidance.
Medical Records and Documentation
- Complete all medical records and case histories promptly, indicating diagnosis and treatment given.
- Own responsibility for medical accuracy, completeness, and confidential nature of patients' medical records.
Professional Development and Meetings
- Attend professional and hospital meetings as directed by the Head of Department.
- Prepare cases occasionally for presentation at ward rounds and staff meetings.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuing medical education.
- Fulfill professional requirements for continuing maintenance of competence in all aspects of emergency medicine.
Operations and Coverage
- Provide on-call emergency coverage.
- Participate equitably in the duty roster on a shift basis.
- Participate in review and planning activities relevant to the development of the emergency service and the hospital.
General Duties
- Carry out other assigned duties within the appropriate scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position.
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduation from an approved Medical School.
- Completion of an approved Obstetric residency program consistent with established standards of the hospital with specialty certification in the country of training.
- At least two years of experience as a full-time Ob-Gyn practitioner.
- Current licensure in country of origin and DHA license to practice in Dubai, UAE.
Skills & Competencies
- Thorough knowledge of medical ethics, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain confidentiality of work.
- Personality that inspires confidence and trust in patients.
- Excellent command of oral and written English.
- Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
- Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients, and families.
